The Ram 1500 BackCountry joins the light-duty lineup and is the latest example of how Ram Truck is North America’s off-road truck leader. BackCountry combines convenience, comfort and off-road capability in one package with a name that resonates among truck buyers.

The 2022 Ram 1500 BackCountry Edition features robust off-road features straight from the factory while staying true to the hardworking nature of the Ram 1500.

Ram 1500 BackCountry
The 2022 Ram 1500 BackCountry Edition features 18-inch black wheels, black tu-tone exterior paint, black badging, exhaust tips, headlamp bezels, mirrors and running boards. A body-color grille surround and tonneau cover also are included and help set BackCountry up from the rest of the light-duty lineup.

Standard functional features include the 4x4 Off-Road Group, which includes tow hooks, skid plates for the front suspension, transfer case, power steering and fuel tank, rear electronic locking axle, off-road calibrated shocks, hill-descent control and all-terrain tires, and Bed Utility Group, which includes upper adjustable tie downs, bed extender (available with RamBox only) deployable bed step, bed lighting and spray-in bed liner.

Inside, the 2022 Ram 1500 BackCountry offers a black interior with bucket seats. A 7-inch touchscreen, BackCountry badge on the instrument panel and all-weather slush mats from Mopar round out the distinctive interior content.

The 2022 Ram 1500 BackCountry is available in 4x4 Quad and 4x4 Crew Cab configurations with both the 5.7-liter V-8 and 5.7-liter V-8 engine with eTorque mild-hybrid assist.

Ram Launches Second Phase of ‘Built to Serve’ Trucks With First Responder-inspired, Limited-edition Models

February 10, 2022 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Ram Truck today announced the second phase of its Built to Serve trucks, which will honor the firefighters, police officers and emergency medical service providers who serve or have served our communities.

The first installment honors the firefighter community. Production begins this month at the Sterling Heights (Michigan) Assembly Plant.

“After honoring each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces with our initial Built to Serve models, we felt it would be equally important to also extend our gratitude to all first responders who serve or have served our communities,” said Mike Koval Jr., Ram brand CEO – Stellantis. “Whether a first responder or civilian, Ram truck owners are very familiar with this adage as it’s something we strive to build into every truck and van we produce.”

Each of the three main first responder services will be honored by Ram with two specially selected, unique low-volume exterior paint colors that evoke the spirit, mission and history of that service. This firefighter-inspired Ram 1500 Built to Serve edition is offered in Redline and Diamond Black exterior colors, with a black interior with orange accent stitching.

Ram 1500 Built to Serve trucks feature other unique interior and exterior features that set them apart, including a United States flag and a Built to Serve decal on each of the rear quarter panels.

Built to Serve trucks get additional stylish exterior cues, including a unique treatment consisting of an all-black grille and surround, black bumpers, black-bezel premium lighting and 20-inch aluminum wheels with a unique-to-the-edition Technical Gray finish. Body-color wheel flares also accent the exterior. Complementing the look are black badges, black wheel-to-wheel side steps and dual four-inch black exhaust tips.

Inside, the Built to Serve Ram trucks represent each of the three main emergency services, accented with unique, corresponding color stitching. The first installment of the second phase of Built to Serve trucks offers an orange accent stitching.

These new Ram models are also ready to display their owners' first responder pride with Built to Serve-embroidered Velcro panels on each front seat and additional Velcro panels on each front seat inboard shoulder panel. Ram 1500 Crew Cab Earns TOP SAFETY PICK 'Hat Trick' as IIHS Announces New Ratings

• Third time a Ram 1500 crew cab pickup has earned the TOP SAFETY PICK rating under latest IIHS test regimen

February 24, 2022 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - The 2022 Ram 1500 Crew Cab has earned the TOP SAFETY PICK rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for 2022.

The rating applies to models equipped with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) technology and adaptive LED projector headlamps with high-beam assist, and it reprises the truck’s performances in 2021 and 2020.

“The Ram 1500 Crew Cab’s winning streak underlines our ongoing pledge to deliver exceptional vehicle safety,” said Mike Koval Jr., head of Ram brand. “Our customers use their trucks to provide for their families or help their communities. We want them to do so, safely.”

The IIHS revised its ratings system in 2020 to include a greater emphasis on lighting and AEB. The Ram 1500 Crew Cab’s AEB system, which is standard equipment on Rebel, Laramie, Limited Longhorn, Limited 10th Anniversary and TRX models, earned “superior” rating – the highest possible IIHS grade.

The system is enabled by sensor-fusion technology, which combines camera capabilities with radar sensors to help determine if a frontal impact with another vehicle appears imminent. If, after multiple alerts, the driver does not respond to the potential risk, the system deploys the vehicle’s brakes to help avoid impact or reduce its severity.

Central to the truck’s TOP SAFETY PICK rating was its performance in six IIHS crashworthiness tests that included three types of frontal crashes. The remaining tests inflict damage consistent with a side impact, rear impact and a rollover.

The 2022 Ram 1500 Crew Cab achieved the highest possible score in each.
