Does anyone know when the R/T Versions will be hitting the dealer lots?

I'm wanting to try out the new 4.0L engines. I've read some good things about them, especially being way more refined than the 3.7L. I'm looking for a silky power band with a good exhaust note. I'm familiar with on how some of these older engines feel, I hate the course rough feeling engines that run out of breath before it even gets close the shift point at wide open throttle. So I'm considering the Nitro only with the 4.0L engine.

"It is one of the quietest engines of its size in the market". Quoted by Allpar.

I've notice it has twice the valves for better air flow & a variable intake for low and high rpm power output. It produces a good 45-50hp & 40-45tq more!

It's peak power is at 5800 rpm with a 5800 rpm redline. Now the 3.7L only makes 210hp at 5200 rpm while redlines at 6000 rpm, so it might only be making 170-180hp at 5800 rpm compared to the 255-260hp 4.0L. That could be a max of 80hp difference for passing! I wouldn't mind a 6-speed stick with the 4.0L! Force induction would be nice. But the auto will do. I can't wait to order one if the 4.0L test drive goes well when I do find one. I get a Dodge discount, 24k for a 4.0L 4x2 Black R/T Woohoo.

I think the 4.0L would be nice to have but don't want to wait. That being said there are some pretty quick 3.7's out there in Daks & Durangos, enough options that ought to make a lighter vech. like the Nitro jump up and scoot & are made for the 3.7L not tied to any one vech. My .02

Hmm, I almost bought a 3.7L liberty years back. Which the 3.7L is a 4.7L with two less cylinders. But that didn't work out. Kinda like the 5.9 was with the 3.9L, I used to have a 5.9L Dak R/T. I traded it for a SRT4 after I couldn't make it go any faster without force induction lol. I hope my expectation on the 4.0L aren't too high. Anyone know if the 3.5L engines are good? The 4.0L is a stroked 3.5L.

from the Dodge site, I can't post link yet :(

Better than I thought.

I have the 3.5 HO in my 06 Charger, great power plant. I am getting 23/28 MPG. I did have the dealer put on a Air Raid cold air valve & a dual Borla exaust, I just wanted the sound.
Lots of power.;)

I am getting the Nitro to replace my Charger, nothing wrong with the car. I just need more room for my stuff for my trips to LA twice a year. I will be sorry to see it go.

Everything I've read &heard says the 3.5L is an excellant engine, never had one myself though.
Did you mean 3.7 ?

I had a Liberty Renegade with the 3.7. Good, competent motor but it just left a little to be disired.

I have a 3.5 H/O in my Intrepid R/T. It has almost 74,000 miles on it and it still pulls great. Excellent motor.
