Shutdowns planned for Toledo North Assembly plant

Monday, April 06, 2009 | 5:11 PM

Only one shift is operating at this time

Another shutdown is reportedly on the way for workers at one of the Toledo Jeep plants.

Inside sources say the Toledo north assembly plant will be idled for two weeks later this month. The plant will reportedly be shut down the weeks of April 20 and April 27.

Toledo north is only operating one shift right now. Workers at the plant make the Dodge Nitro and the Jeep Liberty. Sources say the two-week shutdown is due to slow sales numbers.

We're told there are no shutdowns scheduled at the Wrangler plant right now because of slow sales. In fact, Wrangler sales are up quite a bit. Last month, they were up 16 percent from March of 2008, and 17 percent for the first three months of the year.

A Chrysler spokesman said the company does not comment on production schedules more than a week in advance.
