car explosion

Greetings Dodge Nitro,

Nice product! However, I and my veteran buddies just saw your commercial on FOX that shows your Nitro helping a stranded motorist with a car jump. The car explodes in a similar way in which vehicles explode when being blown up. We understand the message-power; but, the first thing that came to our minds is how this message associates the car explosion to IED vehicles that explode in Iraq and Afghanistan. Bad taste? Maybe not for you or some others. But, definitely bad timing, folks. You struck a chord with us on this one and we agreed immediately that we'd never buy the Nitro because your ad stirred some bad memories.

Nothing against Dodge because we want our American made products to succeed. Just, please, think well first and have some sensibility.

Thank you.

Interesting...I guess that is why people are all different, to keep us from all being the same.

I have been working in Afghanistan and Iraq for over 3 years as a Explosive Detection Dog handler, IE...I go out and LOOK for Roadway and Vehicle IED's (bombs). This is not sitting at a cushy base randomly searching the occasional vehicle, but working in the mountains, caves, villages and city streets, unlike the normal picture painted of "the civilian contractor". We have found more IED's than I can count and have had my share of them go boom, when we were closer than I like. I was shot at more in my first three months over here than 13 years as a police officer

Although I have not had the chance to see the commercial, being that I am IN Iraq, I will continue to support Dodge, MY country and buy a Nitro R/T Supporters of a vehicle cannot be responsible for a car companies advertisement, either we like a model or don't.

I know the pictures are "Off Topic" of the Nitro..but I could not resist. What is left of the Land Cruiser "truck" was our K9 ride that took a IED on a road/trail in Afghanistan. There was two of us and two of our 4-legged friends in it...we all came out with only minor injuries.

Just my 2 cents worth

Jason

In my opinion, this is a complete overreaction and you sign your post to give the appearance that you speak for a group rather than just yourself. I hope you understand you're not addressing Dodge when you post here... this is a privately owned forum for Nitro enthusiasts. Your message is misdirected.
