Chrysler Canada Announces June 2009 Sales Results

* Jeep® Patriot and Jeep Compass combined sales increased 24 per cent compared with May
* Dodge Caliber sales grew 8 per cent over May
* Chrysler's Canadian assembly plants restarted production this week
* Canadian dealers successfully transitioning to GMAC

Windsor, Ontario , Jul 2, 2009 -

Chrysler Canada today announced sales of 9,211 units for the month of June, compared with 22,194 in June 2008. Results were adversely affected by the lack of fleet sales due to the temporary idling of Chrysler LLC plants, which also led to reduced availability of selected vehicles.

"With our plants down, limited inventory on the ground and virtually no fleet deliveries, we were relegated to the bench for much of May and June," said Reid Bigland, President and CEO - Chrysler Canada. "Now that those issues are behind us, we look forward to getting back into the game in July and regaining our position as the No. 1 or No. 2 highest-selling vehicle manufacturer in Canada. This month alone we have more than 6,000 minivans headed to Chrysler Canada dealerships."

Chrysler Group LLC recently announced that GMAC Financial Services will be the preferred lender in North America for Chrysler, Jeep®, and Dodge dealer and consumer business.

"As of this week, the majority of our Chrysler Canada dealers have successfully activated GMAC for their wholesale and retail financing needs, and we expect the transition to be successfully completed soon," said Dave Buckingham, Vice President of Sales - Chrysler Canada. "We're confident that our new partnership with GMAC will result in a win-win for all involved."

Sales Highlights

The Dodge brand continues to perform well, representing more than 70 per cent of Chrysler Canada's sales in June. Sales of the fuel-efficient Dodge Caliber were up 8 per cent compared with the month of May. Calendar year to date, the Dodge Journey remains Canada's favourite crossover, with sales of 1,145 units in June. The Journey combines excellent fuel economy, versatility, and the functionality of seven-passenger seating into a fun-to-drive and affordable package.

Combined sales of the Jeep Patriot and Jeep Compass rose 24 per cent in June over the previous month, for a total of 1,064 units. These sport utilities have proven popular with Canadians who appreciate driving the legendary Jeep brand in an affordable, fuel-efficient package. Compared with the month of May 2009, Jeep Patriot sales grew 33 per cent and Jeep Compass sales increased 12 per cent.
