AUBURN HILLS, Mich.

Chrysler's top 300 executives, including the chief executive, will be calling customers to see if they're happy with their vehicles.

It's part of a new Customer First program unveiled this week to senior managers.

An internal e-mail obtained by the Detroit Free Press says executives will be taking turns in the company's customer call center. They also will be competing the next three months to see who can generate the most successful sales referrals.

Chrysler spokesman Lori McTavish told the paper that the objective is to create a closer connection between the company and the consumer. She says Chrysler CEO Bob Nardelli, and vice chairmen Tom LaSorda and Jim Press will participate in making calls.
