Chrysler LLC is planning to idle two additional plants for two weeks in January in the latest example of an auto maker using production cuts instead of incentives to control inventory amid slumping demand.

Just another example of the Japanese Just In Time manufacturing techniques. They would rather close a plant until needed or shift the load to another plant that is underutilized than have excess inventory.

I don't know that I disagree with it.

Another coworker and I were discussing the automotive industry and the big 3 in particular and we were in agreement on one thing. If any of the 3 will pull themselves out of the mess that they are all in, it will be Chrysler. Maybe this is just the first step. (having a car like the Challenger won't hurt either)

I heard through the grapevine that dealers are charging $60,000 + for the Challenger SRT8, which list somewhere in the 40's. I'm not sure of the exact number.
And they still have accumulated over 7000 orders already.

I don't see Chrysler going away anytime soon. :)
