Chrysler officials announced this afternoon that they plan to invest almost $28 million in the Toledo Machining plant in Perrysburg Township for new torque converter and steering assembly columns tied to the company’s effort to increase gas mileage across its fleet.
Tom W. LaSorda, vice chairman and president of Chrysler LLC made the announcement at the Toledo Regional Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual luncheon at The Pinnacle in Maumee.
Mr. LaSorda could not give a specific timetable for the investment, however he said it would be this year. He also said that planned previously announced layoffs at both Toledo Machining and Toledo North Assembly will proceed as planned.
