September 1, 2011 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Building on the momentum of launching six all-new or completely redesigned vehicles for 2011, the Dodge brand is charging ahead in transmission technology for 2012. Building on the success of the all-new Charger introduced in 2011, the 2012 Dodge Charger is now the first domestic sport sedan to feature an eight-speed automatic transmission – delivering a best-in-class 31 miles per gallon (mpg) highway.

“The new eight-speed transmission takes the Dodge Charger, which was already at the head of its class, and puts it in a league of its own, with the ultimate combination of 292 horsepower and best-in-class 31 mpg,” said Reid Bigland, President and CEO, Dodge Brand — Chrysler Group LLC. “Our Charger customers don’t have to compromise as they can get the fuel efficiency of a mid-size car in a full-size sedan with distinctive styling only available from Dodge.”

This state-of-the-art ZF eight-speed automatic transmission will be available on rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive Dodge Charger models equipped with the award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine, delivering 292 horsepower along with improved performance and class-leading fuel efficiency with respect to:

Best-in-class highway fuel economy (31 mpg highway)
Best-in-class V-6 AWD fuel economy (18 mpg city and 27 mpg highway)
Best-in-class combined fuel economy (23 mpg with RWD, 21 mpg with AWD)
Unsurpassed city fuel economy (19 mpg city RWD, 18 mpg AWD)
Overall unsurpassed fuel economy in its class (19 mpg city and 31 mpg highway with RWD)

Dodge Charger with the all-new eight-speed automatic now delivers best-in-class mid-size V-6 fuel efficiency, but does so with the roominess of a full-size, and the style only Charger can deliver.

For 2012, the Dodge Charger lineup has been simplified to include SE, SXT and R/T models, as well as the high-performance SRT8. These models also offer technology, performance and value-packed feature packages to help customers equip their Dodge Charger to their exact vehicle needs.

Segment-first eight-speed automatic transmission
Once limited to premium import vehicles costing twice as much, the new segment-exclusive ZF eight-speed automatic transmission expands the world-class power and fuel efficiency of the 2012 Dodge Charger SE (optional), Charger SXT and Charger SXT Plus. Combined with the award-winning 292 horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine, the results are quicker acceleration, seamless shifts and improved fuel efficiency.

For an even more engaging driving experience, the 2012 Dodge Charger now introduces new paddle shifters with “Sport” shift mode, standard on the Dodge Charger SXT and SXT Plus equipped with the Rallye Appearance Group or Blacktop package. With “Sport” mode, gear changes are quicker and revs are held higher for even more performance-oriented acceleration and higher shift dynamics. For even more control, the driver can also use the all-new die-cast steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters and view gear election through an all-new full-color EVIC centered in the Dodge Charger’s instrument cluster.

Delivering up to a 17 percent fuel economy improvement compared with the previous generation six-cylinder Dodge Charger AWD, the new 2012 Dodge Charger SXT and SXT Plus AWD combine the new eight-speed automatic transmission, fuel-efficient 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine and the segment’s most advanced AWD system for maximum all-weather traction and efficiency.

Dodge Charger’s AWD system features a segment-exclusive active transfer case and front-axle-disconnect system to improve real-world fuel economy. No other major automotive manufacturer offers the combination of these two independent technologies. Dodge Charger’s innovative AWD system seamlessly transitions between rear-wheel drive and AWD with no driver intervention. When all-wheel drive is not required, the system automatically disconnects the front axle to maximize fuel economy while still providing the outstanding fun-to-drive performance and handling inherent in rear-wheel-drive vehicles.

New touring-tuned AWD suspension
With the introduction of AWD on the new Pentastar V-6 powered 2012 Charger, Dodge engineers took the new second-generation architecture further with the addition of hydrobushings for even more precise all-weather handling and world-class refinement.

Compared to the previous generation, 2012 Dodge Charger models with AWD feature a 0.5-inch (13 mm) tighter tire-to-fender fitment, a 0.15-inch (4 mm) lowered overall ride height and larger 19-inch wheels with wider P235/55R19 all-season performance tires.

New Charger Blacktop package delivers even more performance and sinister styling
Delivering even more street-cred and sinister attitude to the 2012 Dodge Charger SXT and SXT Plus, the new 2012 Charger Blacktop features a “blacked out” appearance, performance-tuned suspension and state-of-the-art infotainment system.

The Blacktop Package includes unique Pitch Black-painted “split crosshair” grille with Pitch Black matching grille surround, Pitch Black-painted 20-inch five-spoke aluminum wheels, 20-inch all-season performance tires and performance-tuned suspension architecture. Inside, unique sport seats provide extra lateral support for performance driving needs.

The 2012 Dodge Charger Blacktop Package features the aluminum 3.6-liter Pentastar engine delivering 292 horsepower through the all-new segment-exclusive eight-speed automatic transmission. For even more spirited driving with performance feel, the driver can utilize all-new die-cast steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters to manually select the desired gear.

The Company’s state-of-the-art Uconnect® Touch 8.4 provides Dodge Charger Blacktop passengers with the segment’s largest touchscreen display (8.4-inch) and next-generation mobile infotainment, connectivity and multimedia features. Surrounding passengers with audiophile-quality sound is an Alpine® premium audio system with nine speakers, 8-inch subwoofer and a 506-watt 12-channel digital signal processing (DSP) amplifier for 7.1 Matrix surround sound.

The Dodge Charger Blacktop Package will be available in Bright Silver Metallic, Tungsten Metallic and — for a complete monotone appearance — all-new Pitch Black exterior paint colors, with black premium cloth or Nappa leather seating.

New driver-focused appointments added to 2012 Dodge Charger R/T Road & Track package
Designed for hard-core enthusiasts who crave even more performance from their 370 horsepower HEMI® V-8 powered Dodge Charger R/T with Fuel Saver multi-displacement technology, the R/T Road & Track package now adds even more cockpit convenience features, including heated and ventilated performance seats with larger side bolsters to give even more confidence during aggressive handling maneuvers. The addition of driver’s seat memory, power-adjustable pedals and steering column with memory combine to provide the driver with additional comfort and convenience.

Further adding to the engaging driving experience are new die-cast zinc steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters.
Additional equipment on the Dodge Charger R/T Road & Track includes a black honeycomb-style grille with matte surround and heritage “R/T” badge, 20-inch chrome-clad wheels, 20-inch all-season performance tires, rear differential with 3.06 axle ratio, performance engine and transmission calibration, and high-speed engine controller.

Uconnect Touch — the segment’s largest touchscreen infotainment system — now adds handsfree texting and SIRIUS Traffic to its segment-exclusive Garmin® navigation
The Dodge Charger’s Uconnect Touch system has been upgraded for 2012, adding hands-free texting, voice commands for Garmin navigation, SIRIUS Traffic and even full iPod® control features to expand on the system’s world-class infotainment, connectivity and convenience technologies.

For the Dodge brand, safety is a priority and the upgraded Uconnect Touch (available with 4.3-inch and 8.4-inch touchscreens) with handsfree texting keep Charger passengers even more connected through voice commands. With a compatible Bluetooth® phone, Uconnect Touch enables text-to-speech for incoming text messages, and provides the driver with ‘canned’ speech-to-text responses for outgoing messages.

With the segment’s largest touchscreen display at 8.4-inches, the easy to use Uconnect Touch 8.4N with integrated Garmin navigation is even better with the addition of voice recognition and SIRIUS Traffic. With natural voice commands, the Uconnect Touch 8.4N enables Dodge Charger passengers to input street addresses and navigate to points of interest. And with the addition of SIRIUS Traffic, real-time traffic monitoring notifies the driver or enables the Garmin navigation to re-route due to congested throughways.

Mopar® Introduces Dodge Charger Redline Infused With New High Output 426 HEMI® Aluminum Crate Engine and More Aggressive Style

New 2012 Dodge Charger Redline features three available Mopar® stage kits for factory-tuned performance

Stage One features aerodynamic exterior components and interior accents

Stage Two features bolt-on performance parts for improved power, handling and braking

Stage Three features new high-output version of the powerful aluminum-block Gen III 426 HEMI® V-8 crate engine, delivers 590 horsepower

Dodge Charger Redline will debut at 2012 North American International Auto Show

January 2, 2012 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Delivering performance and an even more aggressive look, the 2012 Dodge Charger Redline is a 426 HEMI®-powered showcase of new Mopar® performance kits that will arrive later this year. The Dodge Charger Redline vehicle with all three Mopar performance stage kits will debut at the 2012 North American International Auto Show.

“Since the 1960s, the Mopar Brand has built a long history of adding power and performance to the Dodge Charger – and with the Redline, we Moparized the new Charger with modern-day performance and style while giving a nod to our storied past,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar, Chrysler Group LLC’s service, parts and customer-care brand. “With three kits, Mopar offers a tailored choice for every customer.”

Stage I: Aerodynamic Carbon Fiber Exterior Components and Interior Accents
Based on the 2012 Dodge Charger R/T model, Mopar’s list of Stage I modifications includes a full-width Mopar carbon fiber chin spoiler to give the Charger Redline a more aggressive appearance. Matching the Redline Tri-coat paint, the two-piece grille features a body-color painted-grille surround with black signature “crosshair” insert. Large 20 x 8-inch Mopar Black Envy Wheels feature a Pitch Black-painted wheel face with polished accents. Mopar carbon fiber door scoops highlight Dodge Charger Redline’s signature body-side scallops and include heritage “R/T” badging to pay homage to the historic 1970 Charger model. A three-piece Mopar carbon fiber rear spoiler adds additional down force and provides an even more dynamic look. Emphasizing Dodge Charger Redline’s fastback silhouette is Mopar’s vinyl roof graphic in matte black.

The Dodge Charger Redline’s cockpit design features premium materials and is further enhanced with a Mopar aluminum shift bezel and aluminum instrument panel bezel with Redline perimeter accent. For a more enthusiast-desired look, Mopar pedal covers are made from stainless steel and feature a rubberized pattern for improved traction.

Stage II: Mopar Bolt-on Performance Parts Deliver Improved Power, Handling and Braking
Designed and tested straight from the factory, the Dodge Charger Redline features Mopar’s Stage II performance kit to enhance its already world-class power, handling and braking.

Allowing the Dodge Charger Redline’s legendary HEMI® V-8 engine to perform at its optimal level, Mopar’s cat-back performance exhaust system delivers an increase in horsepower and a menacing “throaty” sound. Under the hood, a front-tower cross-brace and front tower brace caps provide increased structural stability for improved handling dynamics. For ultimate braking capabilty, high-performance Mopar brake linings are track tested and deliver fade-resistance during hard braking use.

Stage III: Mopar’s Gen III High Output 426 HEMI V-8 engine, with 590 Horsepower on Tap
Delivering 220 more horsepower than the 2012 Dodge Charger R/T, the Charger Redline features the new high-output version of the powerful and lightweight Gen III 426 HEMI V-8 crate engine (for race/off-road use only).

With its legendary 426 cubic-inch “Elephant Motor,” the Dodge Charger Redline delivers 590 horsepower via a lightweight aluminum V-8 engine block that shaves more than 100 lbs. from the traditional cast-iron crate version. The new Gen III High Output 426 HEMI engine is professionally built and includes a stout, balanced lower reciprocating assembly that features a forged-steel crankshaft with six-bolt mains at 2, 3 and 4, and cross-bolted 4-bolt mains at 1 and 5. H-beam style rods are made from forged steel and coupled to forged 11:1 compression ratio aluminum pistons. Included is a revised windage tray to provide excellent oil dispersion and prevents oil aeration by the crankshaft.

The Gen III High Output 426 HEMI engine’s valvetrain starts with a more aggressive roller camshaft with .639 intake and .628 exhaust lift and cylinder heads that feature the latest designs for exceptional flow characteristics. To help stabilize the valvetrain at high engine rpm, tie bars are available.

Mopar cast-aluminum valve covers and billet fuel rails are also included in the Dodge Charger Redline’s Stage III performance kit.

January 23, 2012 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - The new 2012 Dodge Charger with its exclusive state-of-the-art Uconnect® Touch vehicle information and entertainment system is the winner of Edmunds.com’s Breakthrough Technology Award for 2012.

Each year, Edmunds.com recognizes a vehicle that sets the standard for intuitive, practical and affordable automotive technology.

“We’re very proud Edmunds.com is recognizing the 2012 Dodge Charger with its Breakthrough Technology award,” said Reid Bigland, President and Chief Executive Officer, Dodge brand. “The Charger’s Uconnect Touch system with the 8.4-inch touch screen is really world class, intuitive and easy to use. When you combine it with Charger’s available eight-speed transmission that gets best-in-class fuel economy of up to 31 miles per gallon on the highway, the 2012 Dodge Charger really does offer the latest high-tech features, all at a tremendous value, wrapped up with iconic styling.”

“The Dodge Charger embodies some of the most modern technology available in a car today, and it’s available in a vehicle that’s within the budget of average consumers,” said Scott Oldham, editor-in-chief of Edmunds.com. “Much of the technology, for example, is standard on the 2012 Dodge Charger SXT, which has a base price of $28,495 MSRP. And since the Charger is a sensible sedan, the package is that much more attractive.”

Dodge Charger’s Uconnect Touch illustrates tangible results from the company’s extensive research and development. During the development of the all-new 2011 Dodge Charger and its all-new Uconnect Touch infotainment system, Chrysler Group engineers visited, observed and recorded feedback from more than 4,100 owners of the best vehicles from Europe, Asia and North America to see how they interacted with their in-vehicle audio and navigation systems, as well as find out what they really want and need from a multimedia and infotainment system. The result: four high-quality next-generation infotainment models that are easy to use and simplify how passengers interact with different radio, media, climate control and navigation technologies.

The Uconnect Touch system offered on the Dodge Charger includes two 4.3-inch and two 8.4-inch in-dash touchscreen models with redundant manual controls for items including climate control, fan speed, radio tuning and radio volume. The Uconnect Touch 8.4 and 8.4N models feature the segment’s largest touchscreen display at 8.4-inches. The system also includes steering wheel mounted controls for features, including voice recognition for the award-winning Garmin navigation system and SiriusXM satellite radio. In addition, innovative SiriusXM Travel Link provides a host of data services, including fuel prices, weather forecasts, sport scores and schedules and movie listings.

Continuing Chrysler Group’s relentless commitment to safety, innovation and technology, the Dodge Charger’s Uconnect Touch system has been upgraded for 2012, adding hands-free texting, voice commands for Garmin navigation, SIRIUS Traffic and even full iPod® control features to expand on the system’s world-class infotainment, connectivity and convenience technologies.

For the Dodge brand, safety is a priority and the upgraded Uconnect Touch with handsfree texting keep Charger passengers even more connected through voice commands.

And with the addition of SiriusXM Traffic, real-time traffic monitoring notifies the driver or enables the Garmin navigation to re-route due to congested throughways.

Unique to the all-new 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 model, the Uconnect Touch features the SRT brand’s Performance Pages, providing passengers with instant vehicle data, including steering angle, horsepower and torque outputs along with engine gauges. The display is customizable to a driver selectable background.

Another new addition to Dodge Charger’s Uconnect Touch system for 2012 is the optional Beats ™ by Dr. Dre™ audio system that delivers high-definition music. The industry-exculsive Beats Audio™ system was designed in partnership with Chrysler engineers and Jimmy Iovine, an acclaimed producer and chairman of Interscope records.

Both 2012 Chrysler Group models achieve top 5-star rating in front driver and overall vehicle scores

4-star rating achieved in rollover tests

NHTSA NCAP rating for both models follows “Top Safety Pick” by Insurance Institute for Highway Safety earlier this year

February 9, 2012 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - The 2012 Chrysler 300 and 2012 Dodge Charger have achieved 5-star safety ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The 5-star rating is the highest rating for safety by the Administration and measures vehicle safety performance in three categories, including front and side crashes as well as for rollover.

“We’re very pleased that both the 2012 Chrysler 300 and 2012 Dodge Charger have achieved the highest overall rating,” said Scott Kunselman, Senior Vice President-Engineering, Chrysler Group LLC. “The results of these tests reflect crashworthiness and performance in different scenarios.”

Both Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger achieved an overall 5-star vehicle safety score. The rating is a combination of frontal, side pole and barrier performance with the static stability factor accounting for the rollover rating.

Both Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger also achieved high marks in rollover testing with a 4-star rating.

“These vehicles are comprehensively equipped with advanced safety features,” added Kunselman. “Both vehicles are robustly designed with a rigid structure to protect occupants and have numerous advanced safety features including, available Adaptive Cruise Control which NHSTA notes as a technology proven to reduce crashes.”

Safety ratings are just part of the story with both the 2012 Chrysler 300 and 2012 Dodge Charger.

Both vehicles also are equipped with a new 8speed automatic transmission, a first by a domestic automaker. Combined with the award-winning 292 horsepower Pentastar V-6 engine, both vehicles achieve a Best-in-Class EPA-rated 31 miles-per-gallon on the highway. The eight-speed transmission also is available for all-wheel-drive models.

September 1, 2012 , Auburn Hills, Mich. -

The 2013 Dodge Charger provides the ultimate combination of dramatic Dodge heritage styling, award-winning premium interiors, the reassurance of an IIHS “Top Safety Pick”: and full-size spaciousness with best-in-class fuel efficiency and world-class handling and performance.

Best-in-class fuel economy with segment-exclusive eight-speed automatic transmission

As the first domestic sport sedan to feature an eight-speed automatic transmission – the 2013 Dodge Charger with the award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine delivers best-in-class fuel economy in rear-wheel-drive – up to 31 mpg – and all-wheel-drive models – up to 27 mpg.

Once limited to premium import vehicles costing twice as much, the segment-exclusive ZF eight-speed automatic transmission expands the world-class power and fuel efficiency of the 2013 Dodge Charger SE (optional), Charger SXT and Charger SXT Plus. Compared with the five-speed automatic, the results are quicker acceleration, seamless shifts, improved performance and class-leading fuel efficiency with respect to:

Best-in-class highway fuel economy (31 mpg highway)
Best-in-class V-6 AWD fuel economy (18 mpg city and 27 mpg highway)
Best-in-class combined fuel economy (23 mpg with RWD, 21 mpg with AWD)
Unsurpassed city fuel economy (19 mpg city RWD, 18 mpg AWD)
Overall unsurpassed fuel economy in its class (19 mpg city and 31 mpg highway with RWD)

In addition, Dodge Charger with the eight-speed automatic delivers best-in-class mid-size V-6 fuel efficiency, but does so with the roominess of a full-size sedan, and the style only the brand’s iconic Charger can deliver.

The segment’s most advanced AWD system
From winding through twisty stretches of coastal road, to escaping away to a snow-covered ski resort, the 2013 Dodge Charger AWD models have a commanding design presence and the power and all-weather capability to carve through some of the worst precipitation Mother Nature can dish out.

With the aluminum 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine delivering best-in-class city and highway fuel economy (19/27 mpg), or legendary 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 engine with 370 horsepower with four-cylinder mode Fuel Saver Technology – Dodge Charger’s AWD system features a segment-exclusive active transfer case and front-axle-disconnect system to improve real-world fuel economy. No other major automotive manufacturer offers the combination of these two independent technologies.

Dodge Charger’s AWD system seamlessly transitions between rear-wheel drive and AWD with no driver intervention. When AWD is not required, the system automatically disconnects the front axle to maximize fuel economy while still providing the outstanding fun-to-drive performance and handling inherent in rear-wheel-drive vehicles.

More horsepower with Rallye Appearance Group and Blacktop Package
In addition to the 20-inch five-spoke aluminum wheels (chrome clad on Rallye and Gloss Black on Blacktop), all-season performance tires, performance-tuned suspension, sport seats, rear body-color spoiler and exclusive Beats by Dr. Dre audio system, the 2013 Dodge Charger SXT and SXT Plus with Rallye Appearance Group and Blacktop Package now deliver more power and performance with the award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine. With the addition of a new sport-tuned dual exhaust system and cold-air induction system, the aluminum mill now produces 300 horsepower (8 more horsepower than last year) with an enthusiast-desired sound.

In addition, the segment-exclusive eight-speed automatic transmission is upgraded with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters and “Sport Mode” on the Rallye Appearance Group and Blacktop Package. With Sport Mode, gear changes are quicker and revs are held higher for even more performance-oriented acceleration and higher shift dynamics. For even more control, the driver can also use the die-cast steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters and view gear election through the full-color EVIC centered in the Dodge Charger’s instrument cluster.

Uconnect 8.4N — the segment’s largest handsfree communication system — now features improved map graphics
The 2013 Dodge Charger sedan’s Uconnect 8.4N system has been upgraded for 2013, enhancing the award-winning Garmin navigation system with enhanced colors and graphics, along with a more Dodge-brand focused appearance.
Enhancements to the Garmin navigation features integrated into the Uconnect 8.4N include improved graphics used to display road signs and lane guidance that now cover over 60,000 intersections across the United States. In addition, the Uconnect 8.4N system now also features 3D buildings and terrain views. Information is very realistic and intuitive enabling drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and focus on the road.

With the segment’s largest touchscreen display (8.4-inch), the easy to use Uconnect 8.4N with integrated Garmin navigation features voice recognition and SiriusXM Traffic. With natural voice commands, the Uconnect 8.4N enables passengers to input street addresses and navigate to points of interest. And with the integrated SiriusXM Traffic, real-time traffic monitoring notifies the driver or enables the Garmin navigation to reroute due to congested throughways.
For the Dodge brand, keeping drivers focused on the road is a priority and the Uconnect 8.4N (and 8.4 model) includes handsfree texting, to keep passengers even more connected through voice commands. With a compatible Bluetooth phone, Uconnect enables text-to-speech for incoming text messages, and provides the driver with a list of popular responses for outgoing messages.

Beats by Dr. Dre expands the mobile audio experience on Dodge Charger
The partnership between Dodge and Beats By Dr. Dre brings music-studio sound to consumers in cars not just by adding speakers, but working with the music makers themselves to reproduce sound the way that it’s made in the studio. Instead of the traditional approach to automotive sound, entrusting lab coat-adorned engineers as the arbiters of musical taste, Beats by Dr. Dre founders Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine worked side-by-side with the engineering team at Chrysler Group to design and tune the 10-speaker audio system.

Standard on 2013 Dodge Charger R/T Max, included in Rallye Appearance Group and Blacktop Packages (SXT & SXT Plus) and Wheels ‘n Tunes Group (R/T and R/T Plus) and available on Charger R/T Road & Track and all AWD models, the Beats by Dr. Dre audio technology includes a powerful 12-channel amplifier that integrates the heart of the Beats proprietary equalizer algorithm, creating the high-definition sound required in professional recording studios.

Delivering the mid- to high-range needed for studio-quality sound are three 3.5-inch speakers located in the instrument panel and two 3.5-inch speakers located in the rear doors. Two 6 x 9-inch front-door woofers deliver bass, while two 6 x 9-inch speakers and a center-mounted 8-inch speaker located in the rear-shelf area provide full-range audio. Maximizing how music genres from hip hop to Motown should sound and feel, an 8-inch Beats Audio trunk-mounted dual-voice coil subwoofer with sealed enclosure delivers tight, powerful, punchy bass.

Dodge Charger delivers 5-Star Safety Rating and IIHS Top Safety Pick
The Dodge Charger has achieved 5-star safety ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The 5-star rating is the highest rating for safety by the Administration and measures vehicle safety performance in three categories, including front, side crashes and rollover crashes.

Dodge Charger achieved an overall 5-star vehicle safety score. The rating is a combination of frontal, side pole and barrier performance with the static stability factor accounting for the rollover rating. Dodge Charger also achieved high marks in rollover testing with a 4-star rating.

In addition, Dodge Charger was named a “Top Safety Pick” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) – its highest rating. IIHS recognizes vehicles with outstanding crashworthiness in front, side, rollover and rear crashes. The Dodge flagship sedan received “good” ratings, the highest achievable, in all four categories.

To be considered, vehicles must have available electronic stability control (ESC) systems that significantly reduce crash risks. Dodge Charger has standard ESC. Other standard safety features include, full-length side-curtain airbags, seat-mounted side thorax air bags, driver’s knee bag, front-row reactive head restraints, Hill-start Assist, Rain Brake Support and Ready Alert Braking.

Unique dark brushed aluminum trim surrounds the 8.4-inch Uconnect Touch screen and gauges on the instrument panel, as well as the trim around the shifter and cup holders on the center console. Finishing touches include a Mopar bright pedal kit, a 552-watt 10-speaker Beats Audio System, and a special numbered “DAYTONA” badge on the instrument panel that features the build number of that specific Charger Daytona model.

Built at Chrysler Group LLC’s Brampton, Ontario, assembly plant, the 2013 Dodge Charger Daytona arrives at Dodge dealerships nationwide in the first quarter of 2013 with a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $32,990 for R/T and $36,495 for R/T Road &Track Daytona models.

2013 Dodge Charger with eight-speed
automatic transmission

December 17, 2012 , Auburn Hills, Mich. -

With Old Man winter around the corner, Dodge is launching the all-new 2013 Dodge Charger AWD Sport just in time to deliver tactical performance and efficiency to combat the most inclement driving conditions. The Charger’s new AWD Sport package delivers two powerful engines delivering up to 370 horsepower, the segment’s most advanced all-wheel-drive system for best-in-class V-6 fuel economy, new “blacked out” exterior accents for a menacing look, and first-time available to Charger AWD paddle-shifters with “sport mode” for precision worthy of its legendary nameplate.

“With the instant success of the sinister-styled Charger Blacktop, the new Charger AWD Sport delivers a similar aggressive look with the added capability of all-wheel drive,” said Reid Bigland, President and CEO- Dodge Brand. “The new Charger AWD Sport offers the unmistakable combination of up to 370 horsepower, the most sophisticated all-wheel-drive system in its class, best-in-class V-6 fuel efficiency, and a style that sets it apart from any other car on the road, all at an amazing value.”

Orders for the 2013 Dodge Charger AWD are open now. Vehicles will be built at the Brampton (Ont.) Assembly plant from December through February.

New design and performance features never previously offered on Charger AWD models
Building on the success of the rear-wheel drive and blacked-out styled Dodge Charger Blacktop — an enthusiast-desired package that has accounted for up to 25 percent of Charger SXT sales — the new 2013 Dodge Charger AWD Sport provides a new frontier for the Dodge brand to expand the ominous style, world-class performance and enthusiast-desired technologies into the Charger AWD model range.

The new 2013 Dodge Charger AWD Sport is available on the Dodge Charger SXT and SXT Plus AWD models for a U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Prices (MSRP) of just $1,395 and Charger R/T and R/T Plus AWD models for just $1,195. The Charger AWD Sport package offers added value with a 40 percent package savings discount and includes a unique Gloss Black painted split-crosshair grille and grille surround, 19-inch polished aluminum wheels with Gloss Black pockets, all-season performance tires, the first application of steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters and sport mode transmission calibration in a Charger AWD, rear body-color spoiler and sport seats in black cloth (SXT and R/T), or premium black or red heated Nappa leather (SXT Plus and R/T Plus).

In addition, the new Dodge Charger AWD Sport features the Beats Audio technology with a powerful 12-channel amplifier that integrates the heart of the Beats proprietary equalizer algorithm, creating the high-definition sound required in professional recording studios.

More power, precision and prowess
From winding through twisty stretches of mountain roads, to escaping away to a snow-covered ski resort, the 2013 Dodge Charger AWD Sport has a commanding design presence and the power and all-weather capability to carve through some of the worst precipitation Mother Nature can dish out.

The 2013 Dodge Charger AWD Sport (based on Charger SXT and SXT Plus models) features the award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine – now with 300 horsepower thanks to the addition of a new sport-tuned dual exhaust system and cold-air induction system. Even with the added performance, the aluminum mill still delivers best-in-class city and highway fuel economy (18/27 mpg). For drivers who demand even more performance, the legendary 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 engine with 370 horsepower, 395 lb-ft of torque and four-cylinder mode Fuel Saver Technology, the Dodge Charger AWD Sport also can be configured from the Charger R/T and R/T Plus models.

Both V-6 and V-8 models feature the segment-exclusive active transfer case and front-axle-disconnect system to improve real-world fuel economy. No other major automotive manufacturer offers the combination of these two independent technologies. The AWD system in the Dodge Charger AWD Sport seamlessly transitions between rear-wheel drive and AWD with no driver intervention. When AWD is not required, the system automatically disconnects the front axle to maximize fuel economy while still providing the outstanding fun-to-drive performance and handling inherent in rear-wheel-drive vehicles.

In addition, the new Dodge Charger AWD Sport features paddle shifters and “sport mode.” With Sport Mode active, gear changes are quicker and revs are held higher for even more performance-oriented acceleration and higher shift dynamics. For even more control, the driver can also use the die-cast steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters and view gear election through the full-color EVIC centered in the Dodge Charger AWD Sport’s instrument cluster.

Available this winter
Built at Chrysler Group LLC’s Brampton, Ontario, assembly plant, the 2013 Dodge Charger AWD Sport models arrive at Dodge dealerships nationwide in the first quarter of 2013 and have the following U.S. MSRP excluding $995 destination charge:

CNET Recognizes Dodge Charger’s Beats by Dr. Dre Audio System as ‘Best-sounding Stereo’ in 2012 Car Tech Awards

January 11, 2013 , Auburn Hills, Mich. -

The legendary Dodge Charger with its segment-exclusive Beats by Dr. Dre studio-quality sound experience is being recognized by CNET, a leading provider of tech product reviews, as the “Best-sounding Stereo” in its 2012 Car Tech Awards.

Throughout 2012, CNET reviewed nearly 100 cars and attended auto shows around the world to find the best in automotive technology, and for this year’s award, CNET editors favored Chrysler Group’s implementation of the Beats Audio system in the Dodge Charger as a system that's attainable by the masses.

“We are honored to receive CNET’s award of ‘Best-sounding Stereo’ in our Dodge Charger,” said Reid Bigland, President and CEO, Dodge Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “With the Dodge Charger, there is no compromise. From its segment-exclusive Beats by Dr. Dre audio system delivering 552 watts, to its 300 horsepower V6 and segment-exclusive eight-speed automatic transmission delivering best-in-class V-6 fuel efficiency of 31 miles per gallon highway, the Charger delivers precision and performance, in an iconic design that starts at just 25,995 MSRP.”

Beats by Dr. Dre founders Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine worked side-by-side with the Chrysler Group’s engineering team to design and tune the Charger’s 10-speaker audio system. The resulting audio experience offers the Dodge Charger sound that only music experts like Dr. Dre, a legendary producer and artist Iovine, an acclaimed producer and chairman of Interscope Geffen-A&M Records, could achieve.

“Our goal in partnering with Beats is to revolutionize the way people listen to music in a vehicle, giving consumers an in-studio experience from the seat of their car,” said Marios Zenios, Vice President, Uconnect Systems and Services ̶ Chrysler Group LLC. “The Beats by Dr. Dre audio system in the Dodge Charger includes a powerful 12-channel amplifier that integrates a proprietary audio enhancement algorithm, creating the high-definition sound required in professional recording studios.”

Delivering the mid- to high-range needed for studio-quality sound are three 3.5-inch speakers located in the Charger’s instrument panel and two 3.5-inch speakers located in the rear doors. Two 6 x 9-inch front-door woofers deliver bass, while two 6 x 9-inch speakers and a center-mounted 8-inch speaker located in the rear-shelf area provide the full-range audio that CNET praised. Maximizing how music genres from hip hop to rock should sound and feel, an 8-inch Beats Audio trunk-mounted dual-voice coil subwoofer with sealed enclosure delivers tight, powerful, punchy bass.

Editors at CNET applauded the Chrysler Group and Beats by Dr. Dre for the Charger’s clean, tight sound.

“We appreciated the careful tuning given to this system, such that it could be turned up extremely loud without distortion. Its bass punches you in the chest, and if you close your eyes, it seems like your favorite artist is singing right on top of the dashboard,” said Wayne Cunningham, Senior Editor at CNET.

The Beats Audio system is offered on just about every 2013 Dodge Charger model and its popular equipment groups, including the Wheels ‘n Tunes Group, Rallye Package, Blacktop Package, Road & Track and new Charger AWD Sport.

Beats by Dr. Dre expands the mobile audio experience on Dodge Charger
The partnership between Chrysler Group and Beats by Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine worked side-by-side with the engineering team at Chrysler Group to design and tune customized audio systems, to take advantage of quiet cabins, thanks to the beautifully designed Chrysler Group vehicle interiors. This allows consumers to truly connect with the emotion of their music. The high-definition Beats Audio technology is also featured exclusively in the iconic 2013 Fiat 500 and 2013 Chrysler 300 flagship sedan.
