If the Dodge Nitro was a presidential candidate, this would be the moment to shake up the campaign staff and hire a new press spokesman. Poor Nitro, the Dodge sport utility vehicle hasn't received much good ink lately.
Well, call me weird, but I don't think the Nitro is that bad. Early last year, I tested a base two-wheel-drive model with nearly no options. This year, my test vehicle was a more up-market four-wheel-drive SLT edition loaded with goodies, including heated, leather-trimmed seats, a power sunroof, a premium sound system and a new-for-2008 ParkSense Rear Park Assist system. And neither vehicle was without virtue.
