I should have posted my question after I tried my new stereo with a CD loaded to see if it works how I thought it should. Thanks for the info and the NAV system is great especial with the fact that you can touch the screen, the last NAV system in my Commander was a pain.

Just curious but does the new Nitro have the update that removes the “Agree” screen at start up? (Version 9.561)

Thanks to this Forum and ResumeSpeed for the complete list of all Nitro Technical Service Bulletins, I had my Dealer order and install the software update 8-025-07 for my unit.

Works like a charm and the Acceptance Screen now removes its self at start up, instead of having to touch the screen, each time. Since my 07 was built late in July 07 I asked the Service Technician if all 08 MYGIG radios have this software. He said he did not know and I was the first to request this update.

Something else I found interesting was they gave me the DVD/CD update disk. When I told him that shouldn’t you keep this for others? he said no they would re-order it for that customer? Guess it is no big deal for them, and since it does have part # (68043349AB) maybe they charge it out under warranty.

If it was not for this Forum, how would any owner even know they could get rid of that screen? This disk works on 14 Chrysler models that have factory installed MYGIG Radios.

It took about 30 minutes to update and that is the only change I have seen so far. I would have thought maybe a GPS or “Bluetooth” update could have been part of this update but I guess not. Also I have updated our cell phones to Verizon’s Samsung Juke (U470) and they both were compatible and paired up correctly.

I know not everyone activates or keeps their SIRIUS radio active but why couldn’t they update MYGIG using satellite? My DVRs do this, not the phone line as in the past.

Chrysler really should notify all owners that this Update is available, free-of-charge, but that would cost money! They sent me by mail, a new engine tune label (Recall G-45) and told me to install it. I took it to the Dealer and the Service Technician got paid 0.2 hours to install it! They did not offer to pay me.
Well maybe someone at Chrysler read this Forum and my post!

Had a Chrysler Technician over at my house yesterday and he told me his Dealership just got a directive from Chrysler to stock this latest software update CD and install it in as many models as possible even without a request from the customer. Way-to-go Chrysler!

Does Chrysler send out the updates or do they have to be downloaded off the internet?

I think I have 9.713, but there is now a 9.715.
No you must return to the Dealership to have them install it under warranty (CD). At some point I am sure customers will be directed to perform their own, but presently it is free. My latest revision was to the 9.561 and I have not seen any TSB to upgrade it, but I am aware there are newer versions but may not be available from the Dealer, yet. I am pleased with what I have now with no issues. If you do have any issues with any version you should take it in for service and have it addressed under warranty. Good Luck and enjoy!

PS I have Lowrance I-Way 500C GPS also for our other SUV and have up-graded it twice using the Internet from their website and there is no charge. Future (out-of-warranty) may be done this way too, or maybe they will want to charge you for a CD?

And now a 9.717...

Received a new CD Upgrade/Recall CD (9.713) in the mail today directly from Chrysler. It says to install at once or risk hard disc drive corruption that will require replacement of the radio! WOW Even comes with Recall Postcard to return when completed. Can be self installed but have mine done at the Dealership so my Tech can get for paid for it and ask him to order the even newer 9.717 if he thinks it is needed.

So this is a first that an upgrade CD is sent directly to the owner, by Chrysler since they consider it a Recall. Way to go Chrysler.

"Customers may experience a condition where the hard drive becomes corrupt. If corrupt,
the radio will have all 3 of the following conditions:
a. The radio does not go past the “Navigation is being activated” screen.
b. Music on the hard drive cannot be accessed.
c. Capacity of the hard drive shows 0."

It looks like the 9.717 would be used only when these three conditions are present, which is a corrupted hard drive. But if c. is present, it seems that the other two would be a natural.

Sign the MYGIG MAPS petition!

! SIGN THE PETITION FOR A AUSSIE/USA/EURO MYGIG NAV MAP UPDATE !

A move by members on Dodge-Downunder - Australias Modern Dodge Community - Powered by vBulletin

Did you know that the current Australian and USA and EURO MYGIG Nav Maps are only accurate as at June 2006 (Database P2 - A 206 0705)?

Did you know that Navteq (the nav database provider for MYGIG) have current Australian data available but are not authorised by Chrysler to release any updates directly to Australian MYGIG end users?

If like me you have recently purchased a Chrysler / Dodge / Jeep with the MYGIG Nav System, then you have paid for a system which already had obsolete nav data at the time it was sold to you. If that was not frustrating enough, you probably have experienced the blank look on your local dealer's face when asked about nav map updates.

Its time Chrysler honoured its commitment to its customers by releasing an Australian navigation map update for the MYGIG. Ongoing product support and updatability were some of the key marketed benefits of the MYGIG System.

I am currently gathering names of Chrysler / Dodge / Jeep owners who have the MYGIG Nav System and wish to register their support and desire for an Australian navigation map update.

I propose to send this petition to both Chrysler Australia and Chrysler America.

In order to sign this petition electronically, please send via email to [email protected] the following details:
- Your first and last name
- Your city/suburb and State/Territory
- Your year and make of vehicle (eg. 2008 Dodge Nitro)
- Your model of MYGIG (eg. REP)

All owners (including Dodge-Downunder - Australias Modern Dodge Community - Powered by vBulletin members, forum guests or otherwise) are encouraged and welcome to register their support.

I will only use these details once to attach to the petition. A copy of the draft petition letter is posted below for your information.

Please encourage your fellow Chrysler / Dodge / Jeep owners to also register their support. I also encourage you to write your own personal letter to Chrysler Australia – the more pressure the better!

If you have any queries or suggestions, please message me.

RE: MYGIG Multimedia Infotainment System for Chrysler / Dodge / Jeep vehicles

Attached is a list of Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep owners who are extremely frustrated with the lack of an available Australian navigation map update for the MYGIG System.

As you are aware, the current Australian navigation map data for the MYGIG System is only accurate as at second quarter 2006 (Database P2 - A 206 0705). It is now almost 2009 and to date Chrysler has not made any navigation map update available for Australia (despite doing so for other markets around the world). This is particularly frustrating and disappointing given each vehicle’s user manuals, your website, your brochure material and your local dealerships all speak to the MYGIG System being updatable through and supported by Chrysler.

The attached owners request that Chrysler take immediate action to honour its product representations and its commitment to its customers through the release of an Australian navigation map update for the MYGIG System.

We would be pleased to receive your response. Please direct it to [ ]

Yours faithfully

I really don't have an answer but I just had the H-11 Recall performed on my R/T (Dodge sent me the new update CD) that had the 9.713 software. This was sent free of charge to my home for self install, but since the NITRO was going in for service I had them install it free of charge. Do you have the latest software? What year is your NITRO?

A newer update is out there too. I read somewhere about the 2009 MYGIG had a different serial port on the back than 2007/08 NITROs. Anyway the first place to start is with the latest software if you want the latest support. I have read that "On-Line" support lists from Chrysler are out dated but are avaiable by phone.

Anyone out there know the answer for Retrospects?

I read that latest software update for the iPhone (2.1) will make U-Connect in the NITRO work just fine. So if you have the latest software installed in your NITRO, then you need to make sure your phone has the latest too! Hope this help and Good Luck!
