Dodge Nitro oil filter...a piece of cake!

2k7blacknitro, Ayukawa, 2k7blacknitro,etc.!! You guys seriously made me lmao! I JUST change the oil filter...not counting the minutes but I would say took me 1 minute to take off the filter. Really what is the problem. I've had more problems with spark plug access and oil filters in other vehicles..but this was a no brainier. Oh by the way I've got boobs. ;)

Just get a steel band oil filter wrench, use your right hand, and one turn..it's loose. Amazing I tell ya!

I have just over 6000km on my 2011 dodge nitro and decided to change the oil myself. It took about 25 minutes mostly because I was looking for a wrench that could remove the oil filter. I was wondering if anyone could explain if putting a synthetic blend would increase performance like power or fuel economy. For this oil change I put penzoil engine break in oil blend.

2007 Dodge Nitro Oil Change

Hi guys I recently bought a 2007 Dodge Nitro. What I did to change the oil a bit faster was to remove the engine coolant reservoir tank. This allows you to access the oil filter much easier. Hope this helps. It takes 25 minutes tops.

How many miles are on your Nitro? Do you plan to do a flush, or just drain and fill?

Good deal. What product did you use for your flush? How many miles do you plan to drive with the synthetic, before you change your oil again?

Are you seeing an increase in your gas mileage, and if so, how much? Thank you for the feedback. I am enjoying this much.

oil filer change 2008 3.7

I was going to remove the coolant reservoir to change my oil filter but after removing the three top screws, it became loose on the top part of the reservoir but the bottom part still seemed to be attached to something I can't see.

I had my wife take it to Jiffy Lube to change it and when she came back, because I knew how difficult it would be, I checked and they didn't change the filter at all. I took it back and physically watched them this time.

I would still like to be able to change it myself for the very reason that it is hard to get to. Does anyone know how to remove the coolant reservoir?

The reservoir has 3 screws on top and 2 down low 1 on each side. I recently change my nitro oil for the 1st time as the dealers raised his prices and I don't trust the oil change places. Had to do the reservoir thing because the filter was on too tight to remove by hand. It's a pain, have to remove the battery to get at the screw on that side and remove the air cleaner housing to have a straight shot at that screw.

Get right to the filter with that out of the way. Now running Synthetic and Pure one filter. For a lot less than the dealer was charging for conventional oil.

How to Add Oil Dodge Nitro (2007-2011)

How to Add Oil Dodge Nitro (2007-2011)

Video Description

The video above shows you how to add oil to your 2010 Dodge Nitro. Before adding oil to your Nitro, make sure that your engine was cold and that your car was parked on a level surface when you checked the oil level otherwise you won't be able to tell if your Nitro has a low oil level. For most Dodges, if your oil level is at the minimum mark on your dipstick, you should add about a quart of oil. If you are unsure how much oil to add to your Nitro, add a little bit at a time and check your dipstick frequently. This video shows you where the oil fill cap is located on your Nitro and how to add oil. Adding too much oil to your Nitro can be harmful, so it is easiest to add a little at a time.

If you add too much oil to your Nitro, you will need to remove some by loosening the drain plug underneath your engine - check out our video on how to change your oil & oil filter to see how to remove the excess oil.
