which i-pod aux connector to buy?

Evening Gents,

new here- first post. Just ordered my new SXT in Black with chrome tubular side steps and alloy fuel door that looks like a fighter aircraft.. cant wait to pick it up on the 21st march.. the car is soooo sexy i'll be peeling wet thongs off my bonnet as i drive around town..ahhhhhhhhh

Anyways.. got an i-pod touch and wondered what is the best system to connect up to the stereo using the aux jack..? any recommendations?

thanks

David :)

i duont know much about the ipod touch, but if it has a standard earphone jack you can purchase a 3/8 cord to plug the ipod right into the radio through the aux jack. you will have NO control of the ipod through the radio, you will only be able to change songs, scroll playlists, etc on the ipod itself. Mopar has an ipod kit, but im not sure if it is ipod touch compattable or not...as that will allow you to control the ipod by the radio, and only the radio.

Hi all, I fitted some very nice sounding speakers, amps and subs into my Nitro and all I can say is wow, it has made the factory system sound so much better, it really sounds crystal clear and no distrotion anywhere, what i did is a simple upgrade that anyone can do, its not a massive custom job, its off the shelf components and direct factory fittment.

Started with a Vibe Black Air Active Evo Prefab with built in amp

Ive added 6" Component Splits from Vibe Audio

Im telling you guys, If you want to make your car sound system sound awesome, get some VIBE Black Air 6" splits...you will be blown away!

Ok here is the door...stock as a rock

These are the replacement speakers:

The door trims simply slide up after u remove 3 screws....***I MUST INSIST, dont try to pull the door trim off ....it simply slides upwards towards the sky

WOW! Great pictures and a lot of work! Thanks for sharing. Noticed that it appears your Nitro has three rear seat headrests, but US built Nitros only have two? Interesting. Again Thanks!

Infinity Gives Nitro the Best Sound on the Road

Posted on: January 14, 2010

With a standard six-speaker stereo system that boasts an MP3 auxiliary jack and 12-volt power outlet, the Dodge Nitro was already built to make your music sound amazing, no matter what your tastes. But the people at Infinity and Harman International have kicked things up a notch, acoustically mastering an Infinity Premium sound system especially for the Nitro. The available system includes a 368-watt eight-channel amp and nine speakers, including an eight-inch subwoofer, even making tests from the emergency broadcast system sound a whole lot better. Get a feel for the new system in this video.

i got a problem....

 so i have the factory infinity stereo. i ordered 4 alpine type r coax (2-way) speakers. i was to replace the factory mid range drivers with the type r's. in order to get the tweeters on them to work too can i just splice into the tweeter wires and run them to the alpines as well? this way the speakers built in crossover will just split the signals itself?

I have a 2011 dodge nitro and was wanting to hook up some subwoofers I already own. Problem is I have no idea if the stereo has pre outs or not and I'm not really sure how to take the deck out. Does anyone Here have experience with putting aftermarket amp and subs into the nitro?? Do I need a key to take the stereo out??

Welcome to the forum. None of the factory HU's have any pre-amp outs. There are many harness adapters to do this, though. If you are going to put your subs in your cargo area, the closest speaker would be the right rear door. If your amp has speaker level inputs, and is a sub amp, this would be the easiest way to hook it up.
