MYGIG question.

I am currently working in the "sand box" towards the east, so I have yet to physically see a Nitro or drive one yet.

I have not made a decision yet if I want a loaded SLT or hold off a little longer for an R/T.

I must be missing something with the MYGIG option. If you have a “huge-normous” gig i-pod, and it will plugs into the stock radio, what is the benefit of having the MYGIG?

Is there additional features that I am missing?

If really need the UConnect feature can't you order that option separate?

Just curious. Want to be well informed before I come home and buy one.

Thanks!

Re: MYGIG question.

MyGIG has Navigation, a 6.5" screen and touch control, and a Hard drive. U-Connect can be ordered on its own and works through all of the factory Head Units. If you aren't into Navigation and a big screen, get the 6 disk with 8 speaker combo and U-Connect and plug in your iPod.

One thing to note with U Connect - The voice recognition feature is only available on the factory installed system, not the dealer installed.

Re: MYGIG question.

Thanks...guess it would be wiser to just have the factory options, that way I know all the toys will work together.

Service Bulletin 08-048-06

On 2007 Sebring & Nitro vehicles, the voice recognition selection for the RES & REQ radios, will only work if the vehicle is equipped with the factory installed U Connect hands free feature (sales code RSP).

DCX disabling Front Seat Video feature on MyGIG

Due to certain state regulations, a function for disabling the front seat video option for the MyGIG radios has been incorporated into the vehicle. This function will enable or disable the radios ability to play video in the front seat. If enabled, the radio will only play video when the vehicle is in Park (Automatic Transmission) or when the parking brake is set and vehicle speed is zero (Manual Transmission). If disabled the radio will NOT play video in the front seat in any operating mode.

Certain state laws mandate that the Front Seat Video feature, on vehicles so equipped, be disengaged prior to vehicle delivery.

Vehicles equipped with the Front Seat Video ‘My GIG’ feature (sales codes RER, REN, REU), and delivered to the following states, must have the Front Seat Video feature disengaged during the New Vehicle Prep process, using the StarSCAN tool:

Connecticut
Florida
Illinois
Kansas
Michigan
New Mexico
Nevada
Oklahoma
Oregon
Pennsylvania
Tennessee
Texas
Maryland
Utah
Wyoming

For vehicles affected, the vehicle Navigation User Manual will contain a special insert providing the customer with specific details regarding this action.

NOTE: Some early release vehicles may be delivered without the special Navigation User Manual insert. For these vehicles it will be necessary to make a copy of the attached form 81-170-07055A and include it with the existing vehicle’s Navigation User Manual to ensure that the customer is aware of any legal requirements that may apply.

MyGiG Review

the first few nitros built with the MyGig was accidentally shipped without the "navigation users manual" so i was flying kind of blind at first with how it all works but.........................
my friend at the plant sent me my "navigation owners manual" and i have been going through it (all 183 pages)

their are alot of neet features like you can set a destination and the system gives you a route......if you deviated from that route it recalculates and gives you a new route to your destination

you can also add a second destination to a route (like adding a gas station on the way) and it calculates to the gas station then to the destination

you have a home setting that will take you home from any place you are

they have POI point of interest selection of restaurants stores gas stations etc

you can set a destination by address, intersection, geo coorinates, poi, point on map etc

their is where am i now?, my trips, emergency info, guide me home, etc

also all of this can be used by voice commands you can even change the stations on the radio by voice commands

their is a jukebox section to add your favorite albums and access them quickly

also you can stor music and pics on the hard drive

you can imput addresses and phone numbers in the address book and either have the nav find a route to the address or use your U connect to call the person (either by typing in the info or by voice commands)

i am still learning and have to get more involved with things...........like the usb port and jack imput

the real time traffic is awsume it shows things on the screen and also you can go to a second menu TMC traffic and it displays traffic info telling you where the traffic is and info on if it is road work or traffic or such

this thing is awsume

Re: MyGiG Review

their is alot more that i am missing telling about
i just went out and programmed the clock, radio stations, and my home destination
still need to add different addresses to my address book
i did the voice recognition testing to set the system up to recognize my voice as the main voice
i even set the volume on the system voice that talks to you and gives you commands

i did alittle playing with the traffic info, but need to get more into it to learn more about it
but you have different setting as to if it tells you about all traffic within the map area or just on your route and it also gives you automatic or manual as to if their is a traffic problem if the nav systme automatically gives you a route around the problme or in manual it asks you if you want a route around it

i will work on loading some of my CD's into the hard drive and adding a couple pictures just to see how that works

unfortunately my phone is not bluetooth and i still have about 6 months until i can upgrade (without paying a rediculous amount to get a bluetooth phone)
i wish i could use the Uconnect but i will have to wait on that

i am learning more and more as i go along

Thanks for the update Bob, I have a bluetooth phone if you want to loan me that new Nitro until mine comes in!!!

I'd be glad to loan you my 03 Tahoe in place of it! ha... ha!

I ordered my Nitro SXT with myGig on 1/5, still patiently waiting. Looks like it won't be too much longer I hope!

Re: DCX disabling Front Seat Video feature on MyGIG

ANY HELP OUT THERE????????
I ordered two Nitro R/T's fully loaded with all the bells and whistles offered including MyGig. I did so on Jan 23, 2007. They are not here yet and it appears they are on hold. I have called and e-mailed Chrysler Customer Service, several times. I get a different response from them each and every time. From telling me I have contacted the Recall line to telling me in writing that the cars are on hold because of a "light material restriction." WHAT IS THAT? Nobody knows. Also, nobody has yet to tell me why they are on hold, or when they will be off hold. My dealer/saleswoman has said it has something to do with MyGig but she can't get any better info than me. WHERE ARE MY CARS???????
Test driving the R/T model solves several challenges pointed out by Consumer Reports and others when they tested the smaller engine version. The bigger engine is quieter than the smaller one. The bigger engine has "WAY" more pick up. The R/T suspension does away with the "vague" feeling some have experienced. We love the visibility over the 2003 Liberty we now have. The plastic fit-and-finish interior is as good as they can do with plastic. We will learn to live with it. It is a truck/SUV not a BMW 7 series luxury sedan. Some folks need to unclench or move on.

Re: DCX disabling Front Seat Video feature on MyGIG

I'll repeat here what I put in the other post about MyGIG. Harman-Kardon simply is not producing enough to satisfy demand so our vehicles are sitting in a hold status (BG) until the factory gets enough units to build our Nitros. You just have to be patient and you will get them eventually. You haven't even been waiting 8 weeks yet. Others are into 14 weeks waiting. Your only alternative would be to change radio options on your orders, but you could end up hating yourself later. In the long run, another month out of the total length of time you will have your vehicle is not that long to wait to get what you really-really want.:)

i love it sofar!!!! its all learning more and more on the Nav portion of it now i do the POI alot and use the point on the screen to find places.
its really had to explain things without actually showing it.

the only bad thing i found sofar has to do with loading music into the hard drive, (now mind you i have only done this one time so maybe i am missing something) from what i have read (again unless i am wrong here and missing something) you have to load the entire CD then remove the songs you dont want.....so in other words you cant pics certain songs off of a CD that you want to load, you have to load the entire CD then remove the songs you dont want. Now you can easily fix this by using a rewritable CD, burn to it the songs you want to add the the HD in the MyGiG and keep using that CD for other songs you want to add to the MyGiG hard drive. plus if you want to add pics to the hard drive if you have the pics in a folder on a CD the MyGiG cant read the folder to find the pic........but this can be fixed with that same rewritable CD used for the music.
thats really the only gripe i have (and its a very minor gripe) and again i may be missing something and its possible to download only certain songs from a CD.

other than that i love it!!!! all is good

iPhone and uConnect: No worky

Just bought my iPhone and got rid of my T-Mobile Wing (on eBay for sale if anyone's interested....)

Anyway, the Wing worked great with the uConnect system. I used it every day with no problem whatsoever. I removed the pairing of the Wing from the uConnect portion of the myGIG entertainment system and proceeded to pair the iPhone. The pairing went 100% smooth and I was happy.

Then I tried to make a call. First I went through the voice prompts as always and it said dialing. My iPhone said it was dialing and the audio option was uConnect. Immediately after that the "beep-beep" of the uConnect was heard and the radio came back on all the while the phone was dialing, thinking it was connected to uConnect still.

I tried the same thing again, this time dialing from my phone instead of through uConnect. The uConnect display on the radio never came on, but the phone says it was connected to uConnect.

I called uConnect support and spoke with 3 different people who told me the same thing: hold down the uConnect phone button and the Voice Recognition button above it at the same time for 15 seconds. Shut off the car, open the door (so the radio goes off) and wait 30 seconds. Reboot the iPhone, delete and re-pair the device to uConnect. Did that and still doesn't work.

I am going to bring it into the dealer tomorrow to see if there is anything they can do but it's not looking too good. Maybe disconnecting the battery to the Nitro will reset the radio completely? I don't know.

Anyone else out there have an iPhone that is working with the myGIG in their Nitro. According to uConnect, the iPhone is a compatible device (and there are posts on the Internet about people successfully using it).

It's not the bluetooth in the phone because I can connect the iPhone easily to my Motorola headset and that works fine.

Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!

Iphone

I am having the same problem in my 2008 Dodge avenger. I called apple because my other phone was working with the mygig. Apple said it was an incompatibility between the iphone and the uconnect. They are trying to resolve this with a future update but for now we just can't use it.
