Thank you for the response and yes I agree there is something fishy going on. They are willing to allow me $350 for the aftermarket unit and install, but why not try to get me a factory unit for around the same price. I called my parts guy this morning and he's going to check into the vin to see what it actually came with, I remember seeing on the car fax something about the stereo back in 2012. So I'm guessing they swapped it out for the base model.

Not exactly sure what you want type of radio and features you want to install in your Nitro and if it has to be Factory or aftermarket? Here is an older link that may help. I don't know what is available in the aftermarket these days but I suspect it would be easier to install and cheaper. One thing is sure however, you negotiated that $350 and no matter what you do next , that will sure help! Good Luck
After receiving a PM from new member StephenJ about adding a GPS radio I found this informative YouTube video that I had overlooked in the past.
It was never intended by Dodge to make this a simple upgrade due wiring harnesses, a different rear-view mirror with mike and I believe even requiring a "Flash" from the Dealer to the computer! I have special ordered nearly all of the 13 new vehicles (Dealers hate this) I have purchased in my lifetime. Being a Chrysler Parts Manager for 10 years early on, it became apparent that you can not just add many Factory Options to a purchased vehicle. Many times Dealers would try and switch one option to another to make a sale and found out the hard way.
The option of the adding the MyGig Muultimedia Infotainment System w/ Navigation & GPS was a whopping $1,700 list price plus $595 for the 8 amplified speakers and sub-woofer. Dealers don't want to add an expensive option to a vehicle in stock since it may stop a sale. When my Wife purchased a late model Ford Taurus Limited their like system w/voice added $1,995 and the Salesman at the time said they would not add this option to a vehicle ordered for stock, either.
Since the Nitro is now out of production one could now find a totaled Nitro if equipped with a MYGig and find all the others parts (harnesses & mirror and anything else needed) to upgraded.
