St. Louis North to be idled earlier

Posted Wednesday, Jun 24, 2009, 3:03 pm in Employee News

Company officials today issued the following statement regarding production changes at the St. Louis Assembly Plant North:

“Based on current volume projections, Chrysler Group LLC will implement an early idling of the St. Louis Assembly Plant North, effective Friday, July 10, 2009. Chrysler is committed to working with the UAW to address the manpower implications in a socially responsible manner. As we have done in the past, affected employees will be offered an Incentive Program for Retirement, Special Early Retirement Program and/or an Enhanced Voluntary Termination of Employment Program, as well as the opportunity to transfer to other Chrysler facilities.

“The manufacturing facility will briefly resume production Monday, June 29 through Friday, July 10, 2009, and remain idled contingent upon volumes.”

The St. Louis Assembly Plant North produces the Dodge Ram. The company had previously announced plans to idle St. Louis North in the third quarter of this year.
