On the factory installed 6 disc CD/DVD (REQ), is there a video out available?

Been having a hard time finding this info. There's no composite jack on the rear of the unit, so I'm hoping it's available thru the unit's wiring harness.

I know that the mopar add-on rear video system has it's own built-in DVD player, and only uses the factory stereo for sound.

The factory installed video entertainment system (VES) does not appear to have a DVD slot, so I'm guessing it uses the 6 disc (REQ) deck as it's video source.

Can anybody confirm this?

....
Ok, finally got this answered on another forum. Here's the deal if anyone is interested...

The factory installed 6 disc CD/DVD (REQ) does have a video out located on the wiring harness. Still not sure which pins the signal is on, but will post the info once I figure it out.

im pretty sure in order to play dvd's u need the 6 disc unit. if you build your own nitro on the dodge web site and choose the VES, it automatically adds on the 6 disc player !!!

hope that helps,

go here -

Scroll down to radio, you'll see 3 connectors listed. 2 - 22 pin and 1 - 10 pin, with all the pin outs.

Hey Radioman,
Can you explain a little about the search? Did you find a way to hook up a monitor to that radio? I don't understand all this, please forgive me. I would like to have a dvd player in my Nitro. The dealer said that if I wanted that it would cost 1400 dollars. I don't understand how my radio can play the dvd and I can hear it. But there is no way to hook up a monitor to it. Just doesn't make sense to me. I have a feeling there is a way. But the dealer doesn't want to tell you that it can be done. Because they want you to pay that 1400 dollars for them to probably just click two wires together.

Sorry, I'm only a salesman, not a techie. However, I work for a Mopar authorized electronics distributor. Our territory covers about 1000 DCX dealers in the midwest. The price is a tad steep. The unit lists for $1090 with 1.5 hours to install. If you're halfway knowledgeable with this kind of stuff, you could probably install it yourself.

I saw this on the jeep wrangler forum.
maybe this will help to install a monitor on the 6CD/DVD player

I think you can play the system while you are driving but I don't think you can play both the DVD and radio/sireus at the same time
