FCA US LLC today reported U.S. sales of 197,261 units, a 2 percent increase compared with sales in March 2014 (193,915 units), and the group’s best March sales since 2007.

The Chrysler, Jeep® and Ram Truck brands each posted year-over-year sales gains in March compared with the same month a year ago. The Jeep brand’s 23 percent increase was the largest sales gain of any FCA US brand during the month and its best monthly sales ever. The group extended its streak of year-over-year sales gains to 60-consecutive months.


“March was a tough month, yet we were able to extend our year-over-year sales streak to an even 60-consecutive months,” said Reid Bigland, Head of U.S. Sales. “Five years of consecutive monthly year-over-year sales increases is a great symbol of FCA’s commitment to continuous improvement and a tremendous source of pride for our entire organization.”

Eight FCA US vehicles set records in the month of March, including five vehicles that posted their best monthly sales ever. The Chrysler 200, Dodge Dart, Dodge Journey, Jeep Cherokee, and Jeep Patriot each logged an all-time sales record last month. The 200 mid-size sedan achieved its record with a 155 percent year-over-year increase, the largest percentage increase of any FCA US vehicle in March. In addition, the Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Compass, and Ram ProMaster van each recorded their best ever sales in the month of March.

FCA US finished the month of March with a 73-day supply of inventory (578,648 units). U.S. industry sales figures for March are internally projected at an estimated 17.1 million units Seasonally Adjusted Annual Rate (SAAR).

Jeep® Brand
Jeep brand sales were up 23 percent, the brand’s best monthly sales performance ever and its 18th-consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains. The Jeep brand has set a sales record in each month dating back to November 2013. Four of the six Jeep brand vehicles turned in sales records during the month. The Cherokee and Patriot set all-time sales records while the Wrangler and Compass logged their best ever sales in the month of March. With its 41 percent increase, the Patriot had the largest sales percentage gain of any Jeep model for the month. Jeep Grand Cherokee sales were up 5 percent in March compared with the same month a year ago. Sales of the all-new Jeep Renegade began in mid March. The 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT was named Performance Utility Vehicle of Texas last month at the Texas Auto Roundup hosted by the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA).

Chrysler Brand
Chrysler brand sales increased 15 percent, the brand’s best March sales since 2013 and its ninth-consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains. Sales of the Chrysler 200 were up 155 percent in March, the mid-size sedan’s best monthly sales ever and the largest year-over-year percentage gain of any FCA US vehicle in March. The new 200 was named Mid-size Sedan of Texas last month at TAWA’s Texas Auto Roundup. The 2015 Chrysler 300 flagship sedan was crowned Car of Texas at the same competition.

Ram Truck Brand
Ram Truck brand sales, which include the Ram pickup truck, Ram ProMaster, Ram ProMaster City, and Ram Cargo Van, were up 1 percent, the brand’s best March sales since 2007. Sales of the Ram ProMaster increased 112 percent, the full-size van’s best March sales since the vehicle was launched in October 2013. Sales of the Ram ProMaster City, which went on sale in January, are ramping up as greater volumes of the compact van arrive at Ram Truck dealerships. Sales of the Ram pickup truck were down 2 percent in March, compared with the same month a year ago. The pickup earned two awards last month. Work Truck magazine named the Ram 4500/5500 Chassis Cab truck as its 2015 Medium-duty Truck of the Year, and the editors of Four Wheeler crowned the Ram Power Wagon as their 2015 Pickup Truck of the Year.

FIAT Brand
Sales of the Fiat 500 were down slightly last month, compared with March a year ago. The 2015 Fiat 500 Abarth was named in March to KBB.com’s list of the “10 Coolest Cars Under $25,000.” FIAT brand sales, which include the Fiat 500 and 500L, were down 5 percent in March compared with the same month a year ago.

Dodge Brand
The Dart and Journey each posted their best sales months ever. Sales of the Dart were up 56 percent in March, the largest percentage sales gain of any Dodge brand vehicle during the month. The Journey eked out a slight increase in posting its best sales month ever. Dodge brand sales were down 24 percent in March, compared with the same month a year ago, due in part to model changeover at the Windsor Assembly Plant in Windsor, Ontario, where the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country are built.

Three Dodge brand vehicles took home awards last month from TAWA’s annual Texas Auto Roundup: the 2015 Dodge Charger R/T Scat Pack was named Full-size Sedan of Texas; the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat was the Performance Coupe of Texas, and the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat was the Performance Sedan of Texas.

FCA Canada Inc. today announced its 64th consecutive month of year-over-year sales growth, representing the longest sales streak in the Company’s history. March 2015 sales were 25,060 compared with 24,649 in March 2014, which represents a 2 per cent increase.

“The Ram brand continues to be one of the key determinants in our sales growth,” said Dave Buckingham, Chief Operating Officer, FCA Canada. “In fact, March marked an all-time sales high for the brand with over 10,000 units sold.”

Sales Highlights:

The Jeep vehicle lineup consists of the Cherokee, Compass, Grand Cherokee, Patriot, Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited. Jeep brand sales were up 13 per cent, with 5,735 units sold, compared with 5,081 sold in March 2014, marking a monthly sales record. The Jeep brand has set a sales record in each month dating back to February 2014.

Of all Jeep vehicles sold, Cherokee remains the best-selling in Canada calendar-year-to-date. For the month of March, 2,173 Jeep Cherokee copies were sold, marking an increase of 53 per cent over 1,416 sold in March 2014. These results represent a monthly sales record. The 2015 Jeep Cherokee competes in the mid-size SUV segment, the largest SUV segment in North America, with roughly 2.4 million sales in 2014.

March 2015 represented the 28th consecutive month of year-over-year sales growth for the Ram brand with 10,008 sales, marking an increase of 24 per cent over 8,075 units sold in March 2014. These results represent an all-time sales record for the brand. Looking specifically at Ram pickup truck sales within the full Ram brand line-up, there were 8,749 sold in March 2015, compared with 7,544 trucks sold in March 2014. These results represent a 16 per cent increase and mark a March sales record.

Ram ProMaster City experienced its first full month of sales in Canada in March, with 371 copies sold. The tough and city-friendly 2015 Ram ProMaster City is the brand's newest addition to its commercial vehicle lineup. Offered in cargo and five-seat passenger wagon configurations, it takes advantage of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' extensive global capabilities and product portfolio. FCA México sales in March 2015 totaled 7,683 units, a 7 percent sales increase compared with sales in March 2014.

Alfa Romeo Brand
The Alfa Romeo brand sold 6 units in March 2015.

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde offers a new double-clutch six-speed automatic transmission, delivering excellent sporty driving without compromising its comfort in city driving.

The new Alfa Romeo MiTo, now available in a new entry-level version named Progression Luxury, includes attractive equipment: a powerful, 1.4-liter turbo engine, rated at 170 hp, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The also is a 5-inch touchscreen with the Uconnect info entertainment system.

Chrysler Brand
Sales of the Chrysler brand during March were 308 units, a 23 percent sales improvement from March 2014. Sales of the 2015 Chrysler 200 increased 129 percent in March 2015, compared to the same period in 2014. It was the Chrysler 200’s best March since 2011. The Chrysler 200 was named Mid-size Sedan of Texas by the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA). It also nabbed a spot on the KBB.com list of “10 Best Sedans Under $25,000.”

Also in March, the 2015 Chrysler 300 was named by AAA Arizona a “Top Pick” for the Full-size Sedan segment. Also Chrysler 300 also took the highest award as the Car of Texas at the Texas Auto Roundup hosted by the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA).

Dodge Brand
The Dodge brand continues to perform well, with 2,159 units sold during March. Among the top performers in March was the Dodge Journey, which sold 885 units. The Dodge Charger posted strong sales in March with a 17 percent increase over March 2014. Just being launched, the Dodge Attitude and Dodge Vision sold 869 units and 202 units, respectively.

During March, Dodge brand cars were honored as Full-size Sedan of Texas, Performance Coupe of Texas, Performance Sedan of Texas and Best New Feature by the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA).

FIAT Brand
The FIAT brand reported sales gains of 19 percent, with 784 units sold. The Fiat 500 sold 383 units during March. The Fiat UNO, which was recently launched, posted sales of 226 units.

In March a new member of the Fiat brand in Mexico was unveiled, the Fiat 500L.

During March, the 2015 Fiat 500 Abarth received accolades from KBB.com editors; it was named in the list of 10 Coolest Cars Under $25,000.

Jeep® Brand
The Jeep brand sold 1,844 units during March. Sales of the Jeep Patriot totaled 501 units. The Jeep Grand Cherokee reported sales of 400 units. The Jeep Wrangler posted sales of 267 units. In March the Wrangler was named on KBB.com’s list of “10 Best SUVs Under $25,000.”

During the month the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT was named Performance Utility of Texas by the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA).

Mitsubishi Motors
The Mitsubishi Motors brand posted another year-over-year sales gain in March, marking its best March sales since 2009. Mitsubishi Motors Mexico sales were up 37 percent, reporting 1,289 units sold. Results were led by the Mitsubishi L200 with 531 units sold, making it the best March for the L200 since its launch. The successful Mitsubishi Motors pickup was a key element for the ninth double-digit consecutive sales gains month for the brand, consolidated in March. The Mitsubishi Outlander and Mitsubishi Montero SUVs followed the Mitsubishi L200 at the top of year-over-year sales gains for the Japanese brand.

The all-new Mitsubishi Mirage posted sales of 218 units in March. This vehicle continues its positive streak of recognitions with Kelley Blue Book’s distinction as one of the 10 Most Fuel-Efficient Cars Under $25,000 in March. The Mirage is the only non-EV/non-hybrid vehicle to be included on the list.

Ram Truck Brand
In March the sales volume of the Ram brand was up 43 percent with 1,293 units sold. The Ram 4000 continued its strong ascent by posting a 6 percent improvement compared to March 2014. Since it was launched, the Ram 700 has had strong results; last month it registered sales of 472 units.

In March, FCA's European passenger car sales totaled nearly 98,000 vehicles, representing a 15.7% year-over-year increase and outpacing the industry average for the third consecutive month. The Fiat 500 and Panda continued as the two best selling models in the European A segment, accounting for a combined 28.7% share, and the Fiat 500 set an all-time monthly sales record for Europe. The Fiat 500L was leader in its segment for the first quarter, with more than a 24% share. The Fiat 500X ranked among the top ten in its segment. The Jeep brand posted its 17th consecutive monthly increase, outpacing the industry in all major markets on the back of strong sales performance for the Renegade.


The European passenger car market (EU28+EFTA) registered its third consecutive monthly increase, with new registrations up 10.8% year-over-year to nearly 1,651,000 vehicles. For the three months year-to-date, sales were up 8.5% to nearly 3,638,000 vehicles.

FCA posted year-over-year sales growth that was significantly higher than the industry average, increasing 15.7% from March a year ago to 97,800 vehicles. Market share was 5.9%, compared with 5.7% a year ago.

The Group posted significant increases in all major markets, with sales up 57.1% in Spain (vs. 40.4% for the industry), 17.1% in Italy (vs. 15.1% for the industry), 11.7% in France (vs. 9.3% for the industry) and 25.2% in Germany (vs. 9% for the industry).

For the three months year-to-date, FCA posted unit sales of 227,600 vehicles, an increase of 11.6% over the same period in 2014, with market share increasing 20 basis points to 6.3%.

Fiat brand posted March sales of nearly 75,000 vehicles (+13.7%), with market share increasing 10 basis points to 4.5%. For the year-to-date, the brand's European sales were up 8.3% to more than 171,000 vehicles, with share remaining stable at 4.7%.

In March, Fiat achieved significant increases in Germany (+20.4%), Italy (+15.9%), France (+13.9%) and Spain (+76.1%).

These results were primarily driven by the sales performance of the 500 family. For the 500, March sales were up 5.1% to 23,300 vehicles, representing the model's best sales month since launch. It also led the European A segment with a 15.6% share. The 500L led the Small MPV segment with nearly 12,000 vehicles sold in March (23.1% share) and more than 27,000 sold for the year-to-date (share of more than 24%). It was also a very positive month for the 500X, with more than 5,000 vehicles sold in Europe. In Italy, the 500X continued to increase share, entering the top ten in the Small SUV segment. The Fiat Panda was the second most popular vehicle in the A segment, with more than 19,500 vehicles sold (+27.1%) and a 13.1% segment share. The Panda and 500 accounted for a combined 28.7% share of the A segment.

Lancia/Chrysler posted March sales of nearly 6,300 vehicles with market share at 0.4%. Year-to-date, brand sales totaled 17,800 vehicles and share was 0.5%.

The Ypsilon maintained its momentum with nearly 17,000 vehicles sold across Europe so far in 2015. In Italy, Ypsilon sales were up 8.3% for the first quarter, with share increasing 50 basis points to 13.2%. In March, the Ypsilon was the number one selling vehicle in the Italian B segment.

Alfa Romeo closed March with nearly 6,300 vehicles sold and European market share at 0.4%. Year-to-date, brand sales totaled nearly 15,000 vehicles and market share was 0.4%.

The brand posted a 30.1% sales increase in Austria in March. For the year-to-date, sales were up by 4.9% in Italy and 12.5% in Austria.

For the Giulietta, European sales are up 3.85% so far this year.

Je ep extended its growth streak to 17 consecutive months, with sales increasing by 213.7% (the brand's highest ever percentage increase in Europe) to more than 9,250 vehicles. Market share was 40 basis points higher at 0.6%. For the first quarter, sales were up by 190.5% to more than 21,500 vehicles and share increased by 40 basis points to 0.6%.

The brand significantly outperformed the industry average in each of the five major European markets. Sales were up 249.3% year-over-year in Italy, 113.2% in Germany, 860.2% in France, 396.6% in the UK, and 260.4% in Spain.

The brand's performance was driven by the Jeep Renegade, which sold more than 5,500 units in March and now ranks firmly among the top ten in its segment in Europe.

For Ferrari and Maserati, the Group's luxury brands, European sales totaled 1,096 vehicles for the month and 2,204 vehicles for the quarter.
