Ram Truck brand records full-year sales increase in 2017 versus 2016
A 42 percent year-over-year decline in fleet sales for December is in line with the FCA US strategy to reduce sales to the daily rental segment

FCA US LLC today reported sales of 171,946 units, an 11 percent decrease compared with sales in December 2016 (192,519 units).

In December, retail sales of 150,772 units were down 3 percent compared with the same month in 2016 and represented 88 percent of total sales. In line with FCA’s strategy to reduce sales to the daily rental segment, fleet sales of 21,174 units were down, as expected, 42 percent year over year. The largest planned volume reduction in December fleet sales came from the Jeep® brand, which reduced its fleet sales number by 75 percent year over year. Fleet sales represented 12 percent of total FCA US December sales.

The Chrysler Pacifica minivan posted an 8 percent year-over-year increase for its best December sales ever. The Fiat 124 Spider recorded its best December sales as well. Other FCA US vehicles posting year-over-year sales increases in the month of December were the Chrysler 300, Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Compass and Ram ProMaster City.

Chrysler Brand

Chrysler brand sales were up 3 percent in December, compared with the same month a year ago. Both the Chrysler Pacifica minivan and the Chrysler 300 full-size sedan posted sales increases in December. Sales of the 300 were up 60 percent for its best December sales since 2012. For the second-consecutive year, the Pacifica captured both the Minivan and Family Vehicle Best Buy awards from the automotive editors at Consumer Guide Automotive.

Jeep Brand

Jeep Compass, Jeep Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee delivered year over year increases for December. Sales of the Cherokee were up 18 percent in December, compared with the same month a year ago. The 2018 Jeep Wrangler has earned a Residual Value Award from ALG, the industry benchmark for residual values and depreciation data, in the Off-road Utility segment.

For the full year, Jeep Grand Cherokee sales increased 13 percent, compared with sales in 2016.

FIAT Brand
Sales of the Fiat 124 Spider were up 15 percent year over year for its best December sales ever. For the second-consecutive year, the 124 Spider took home a Best Buy award in the Sporty Performance Car category from Consumer Guide Automotive.

Dodge Brand
The Dodge Durango full-size SUV posted its best full year of sales since 2006. The Durango – for the sixth-consecutive year – earned the Best Buy award in the Large SUV category from Consumer Guide Automotive. In addition, Strategic Vision named the Dodge Charger to its “Most Loved Vehicles in America” list for the fourth-consecutive year.

Ram Truck Brand

Ram Truck brand sales were up year over year in 2017 versus 2016. In addition, sales of the Ram pickup truck edged up year over year in 2017 versus the previous year. For the 10th-consecutive year, the Ram pickup captured the Best Buy award for Large Pickup Truck from Consumer Guide Automotive.

Alfa Romeo Brand
Alfa Romeo brand sales of 2,034 units were up significantly compared with the same month a year ago and recorded its strongest monthly sales of 2017. Furthermore, Motor Trend named the Alfa Romeo Giulia as its 2018 Car of the Year, best representing exceptional value, superiority in its class and impact on the automotive scene.

FCA Canada Reports All-time Record Sales Year for Both Ram Brand and Ram Pickup Trucks

FCA Canada today reported both December and full-year sales, closing the books on 2017 with an all-time record year for Ram brand, as well as Ram pickup trucks.

December 2017 FCA Canada sales of 17,654 vehicles were down 6 per cent when compared with results from December 2016. For the month, a sales record was achieved for Chrysler Pacifica.

In full-year 2017, Ram was the record-setting sales leader for FCA Canada, with figures exceeding 100,000 units and surpassing last year’s full-year numbers by 10 per cent. Overall, 2017 calendar-year sales for FCA Canada were 267,052 units, down 4 per cent compared with full-year 2016 sales of 278,729.

December 2017 Sales Highlights

December 2017 was a strong month for Jeep® products. Grand Cherokee, which recently debuted the world’s fastest SUV in the form of the 707-horsepower Trackhawk, saw sales of 1,438 units in December 2017, up 67 per cent from 12 months prior (860 units). The compact Jeep Compass - completely redesigned for 2017 – saw monthly sales of 603, up 25 per cent versus sales of 482 in December 2016. Built on over 75 years of legendary 4x4 heritage, the iconic Jeep Wrangler sales were up 36 per cent with 1,047 units sold, compared with 770 vehicles sold in the same month, one year ago.

Recently announced as a repeat winner by as their Top Pick for Minivan, Chrysler Pacifica reached record sales for the month of December. The Canadian-built minivan achieved 638 sales, up 144 per cent compared with sales from the same month last year.

Alfa Romeo continues to design and craft some of the most stunning and exclusive cars in automotive history, all while building on a racing heritage that includes some of the most talented and storied drivers and victories.

The Alfa Romeo brand saw its best month since launch with 352 sales in December 2017. Strong sales results came from both the Stelvio and Giulia. The 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio sets a new benchmark in performance, style and technology in an SUV that could only be Italian; while the Alfa Romeo Giulia delivers race-inspired performance, advanced technologies, seductive Italian style and an exhilarating driving experience to the premium mid-size sedan segment.

Full-year Sales Highlights

Ram brand finished 2017 strongly with a hat-trick of sales claims: the best sales year on record for the brand overall (103,843 units, versus 94,108 in 2016), the best year ever for pickup truck sales (98,465 units, versus 89,666 in 2016), and Ram pickup truck as the second highest selling vehicle in Canada for the year. On the commercial side, ProMaster vans continue to gain traction, with year-over-year sales up a notable 65 per cent.

In a uniquely Canadian sales story, all three of the products manufactured at Ontario’s Brampton Assembly Plant (BAP) saw their sales rise in 2017, versus 2016. On the Dodge brand side, Challenger and Charger sales were up 8 and 30 per cent, respectively, while Chrysler 300 was up 18 per cent.

Also made in Canada, the segment-leading Chrysler Pacifica minivan saw a noteworthy 142 per cent increase in sales, calendar-year 2017 versus 2016. Momentum continues to build behind the most awarded minivan of 2016 and 2017. When combined with Dodge Grand Caravan sales, FCA maintains its 35-plus-year claim of leading minivan sales in Canada.

In December, FCA México recorded sales of 9,588 units. FCA Mexico annual sales were of 100,846 units.

"2017 was a year with important launches for the Alfa Romeo, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep®, Ram and Mitsubishi brands," said Bruno Cattori, President & CEO of FCA México. “These launches have helped us reach the position as one of the company's with one of the widest product ranges. In addition, we consolidated our dealer network under the automotive mall scheme, where it is possible to find all our brands under one roof.”

Alfa Romeo

Alfa Romeo, one of the most awarded Italian brands, sold 30 units in December. In 2017, this brand launched Alfa Romeo Giulia, the fastest production sedan, and announced its official return to Formula 1. In 2017, this brand sold 377 units.

Chrysler brand reported sales of 77 units. This brand has distinguished itself by offering vehicles with state-of-the-art technology and by reinventing the minivan segment with Chrysler Pacifica. In 2017, this brand posted sales of 953 units.

In December, Dodge reported sales of 2,764 units. Dodge Journey and Dodge Neon sold 449 and 355 units, respectively. Dodge Grand Caravan sold 170 units, up 100 percent versus prior year. In 2017, Dodge Attitude, the top sales leader of the brand, placed in the Mexican market 19,433 units. In 2017, Dodge brand sold 34,334 units.

Last year, this brand launched Dodge Grand Caravan, a benchmark for people movers, in addition to the 2018 Dodge Challenger T/A Special Edition and the new 2018 Dodge Durango R/T.

In December, FIAT sold 1,003 units. Fiat Mobi and Fiat Uno became the vehicles with the highest numbers for the brand in 2017, posting total sales of 5,675 units and 4,607 units, respectively, achieving best sales in their history. In 2017, both vehicles introduced the LIVE ON system into their 2018 models, a new technology that turns any smarthphone into an infoentertainment center for the vehicle.

Fiat Ducato achieved best annual sales since 2012. And, 2017 became the best sales year ever for the brand with total sales of 12,498 units, up 33 percent versus prior year.

In December, Jeep brand sold 1,431 units. Jeep Wrangler reported best sales month of the year with 291 units. Jeep Renegade posted sales of 475 units. Jeep Compass reported sales of 283 units, best sales month of the year. Jeep Grand Cherokee, the most awarded SUV in history, sold 357 units.

In 2017, total Jeep sales were of 12,661 units.

In 2017, the Jeep brand began a renewal of its product portfolio with the introduction of the new Jeep Renegade, which sold 414 units in December. Also, the brand launched the all-new Jeep Compass, which took the Compass name to a new level of 4x4 capability, luxury and technology. Its latest launch was the all-new Jeep Wrangler. Jeep Wrangler 2018, presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show, became the most capable, luxurious and technologically advanced in its history, staying true to its iconic design.

Mitsubishi Motors
Mitsubishi Motors Mexico reported sales of 1,683 units. Sales were driven by Mitsubishi Mirage and by Mitsubishi L200, which sold 654 and 792 units, respectively. Both vehicles reported best annual sales in their history.

In 2017, the brand introduced to the Mexican market the all-new Mitsubishi Montero Sport, a new off-road SUV. In 2017, total sales of the brand were of 15,286.

Ram brand sold 2,600 units. Ram 700 and Ram ProMaster Rapid, positioned as top leaders in their respective segments, made the brand the undisputed leader in compact commercial vehicles. Ram 4000 achieved best sales month of the year with 350 units.

In 2017, this brand sold 24,737 units, a 1 percent increase over prior year; best full-year sales ever.

In 2017, the Ram brand introduced to the Mexican market Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Limited Tungsten Edition. This vehicle is the most luxurious and capable in its segment. Also, the brand launched the new Ram R/T Crew Cab to the market. With these products, the Ram brand offers one of the most complete portfolios of pickups and commercial vehicles in the industry.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles sales in Europe in December and full year 2017

FCA closed 2017 with full-year sales in Europe totalling nearly 1,045,000 vehicles. This represented a 5.2% year-over-year increase compared with an average of 3.3% for the industry. The Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Jeep brands outperformed the industry average for the year. Alfa Romeo posted the largest increase of any brand in Europe with sales up 29.5% for the year. Fiat brand sales were 4.5% higher and Jeep registered another all time best with sales in Europe up 3.5% year-over-year. The Fiat 500 and Fiat Panda continued to dominate the A segment (with a 29.1% share for the year), while the Fiat 500L, Fiat 500X and Jeep Renegade were all among the leaders in their respective segments. The Fiat Tipo, Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio and the new Jeep Compass also continued to register sales increases. In Italy, the Lancia Ypsilon continued as one of the best-selling vehicles overall and led the B segment for the year.

FCA closed 2017 with sales in Europe (EU28+EFTA) totalling nearly 1,045,000 vehicles (+5.2% compared with +3.3% for the industry) and market share 10 basis points higher at 6.7%.

FCA’s leading brands outperformed the industry average with Alfa Romeo up 29.5% for the year, Fiat up 4.5% and Jeep up 3.5%. FCA also outperformed the industry in nearly every major market. Full-year sales were up 7.7% in Germany (+2.7% for the industry), 10.3% in France (+4.7% for the industry) and 12.5% in Spain (+7.7% for the industry).

In December, FCA sales in Europe totalled more than 62,200 vehicles with market share at 5.5%.

Driving performance for the year were the Group’s leading models, such as the Fiat 500X, Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500L, each of which continued among the European top ten in their respective segments. The Fiat 500 and Fiat Panda (once again the two best-sellers in the A segment) also posted a very strong performance and the Fiat Tipo continued to gain momentum.

For the Fiat brand, sales were up 4.5% for the year to more than 779,500 vehicles and market share was up 10 basis points to 5.0%.

By major market, 2017 sales were up 4.3% in Italy, +9.2% in Germany, +9.0% in France and +11.2% in Spain.

In December, brand sales totalled nearly 43,400 vehicles and European market share was 3.8%.

It was another positive year for the brand’s leading models. The Fiat 500 was leader in the European A segment with sales up 3.5% to more than 191,400 vehicles, while sales of the Fiat Panda totalled more than 188,600 vehicles. The two models accounted for a combined 29.1% share of the A segment. The 500L continued as one of the best-selling vehicles in its segment with nearly 65,000 vehicles sold, and the 500X was among the top five in its segment with more than 91,000 vehicles sold. Sales of the Fiat Tipo were up significantly to a total of more than 127,200 vehicles for the year. Finally, sales of the Fiat 124 Spider were more than double the prior year with nearly 8,000 vehicles sold, placing it among the top ten in its segment.

Lancia/Chrysler posted European sales of 60,800 vehicles for the year with market share stable at 0.4%. In December, brand sales totalled more than 3,100 vehicles and market share was 0.3%.

The Lancia Ypsilon continued as one of the best-selling vehicles in Italy (the only market where this model is sold) and leader in the B segment.

Alfa Romeo posted full-year sales of 85,700 vehicles, representing a 29.5% year-over-year increase, the highest of any brand in Europe in 2017. Market share was up 10 basis points to 0.5%. Brand sales were up in all major markets, with increases of 24.6% in Italy, 40.5% in Germany, 25.6% in France, 2.4% in the UK and 26.6% in Spain.

In December, brand sales totalled more than 5,700 vehicles and share was stable at 0.5%. The brand’s strong result for the year was driven by the performance of both the Giulia and Stelvio. For the Giulia, sales totalled nearly 24,000 units for the year (and it was the best-selling D segment vehicle in Italy with a 21.6% share). Sales of the Stelvio totalled nearly 17,000 vehicles for the year.

Jeep posted another record year, achieving its best ever annual sales performance in Europe. In fact, the brand’s European sales were up 3.5% for the year to nearly 108,700 vehicles. Market share was in line with the prior year at 0.7%.

In December, sales totalled more than 9,200 vehicles, increasing 11.8% year-over-year compared with a decrease of 4.8% for the industry. Market share was 10 basis points higher at 0.8%.

Sales for the year were higher in nearly all major markets, with the brand posting a 22.3% increase in Italy, a 9.1% increase in France and a 22.6% increase in Spain.

This result was driven by the Renegade – one of the most popular vehicles in its segment with more than 73,200 vehicles sold – and the new Compass, which continues to gain momentum with nearly 15,800 vehicles sold in 2017.

Maserati posted European sales of nearly 9,700 vehicles, representing a 22.1% increase over 2016.
