FCA US Reports 2018 January Sales

FCA January retail sales rise 2 percent to second highest level in 17 years
Fleet sales reduced 50 percent year-over-year
Total sales decline 13 percent year-over-year


February 1, 2018 , Auburn Hills, Mich. -

FCA US LLC today reported sales of 132,803 vehicles, a 13 percent decrease compared with sales in January 2017 of 152,218.

Retail sales rose 2 percent to 111,577, making it the second highest level since 2001. FCA maintained its strategy of reducing fleet sales, which decreased by 50 percent compared with January 2017. Fleet accounted for 16 percent of total January sales.

Jeep® Brand

Jeep brand total sales increased 2 percent in January to 59,703. Retail sales increased 11 percent to 57,017, setting a record for January. The Jeep Compass generated total sales of 10,192 – also a record for January. Jeep Cherokee total sales for January rose 16 percent to 14,621. Dealerships began receiving deliveries of the all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler in January, which is being produced in Toledo, Ohio.

Chrysler Brand

Chrysler brand total sales declined 21 percent in January to 10,584 compared with the same month a year ago. The Chrysler Pacifica minivan posted a 20 percent sales increase to 8,011 marking its best January ever. The 2018 Pacifica was also named “Family Car of the Year” by Cars.com in January.

Dodge Brand

Dodge brand total sales declined 31 percent to 27,600. The Dodge Durango full-size SUV continued generating strong results by posting a 9 percent increase in sales compared with the same month a year earlier. The Dodge Challenger received an Automotive Loyalty Award from IHS Markit in January. It had the highest model loyalty in the non-luxury mid-size sport segment.

Ram Truck Brand

Ram Truck brand sales were down 16 percent to 32,039 compared with the previous year. Ram unveiled the new 2019 1500 pickup truck at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January. The truck is slated to start production by the end of the first quarter in Sterling Heights, Michigan.

FIAT Brand

Sales of Fiat brand declined 43 percent to 1,229 vehicles.

Alfa Romeo Brand

Alfa Romeo brand sales of 1,648 vehicles were up significantly compared with the same month a year ago. Giulia led the brand with 948 sales, followed by Stelvio at 688.

Jeep® brand sales up 28 per cent, sets a January record
Jeep Wrangler sales up 196 per cent, sets an all-time record
Total sales of 17,761 decline 4 per cent year-over-year

FCA Canada today reported sales of 17,761 vehicles, a 4 per cent decrease compared with sales in January 2017 of 18,443.

Jeep® Brand

Jeep brand total sales increased 28 per cent in January to 7,145, setting a monthly record. Jeep Wrangler total sales for January rose 196 per cent to 3,755, setting an all-time record. Dealerships began receiving deliveries of the all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler in January. Jeep Compass sales increased 632 per cent to 542 and Jeep Grand Cherokee sales increased 10 per cent in January to 1,026.

Chrysler Brand
Chrysler brand total sales declined 33 per cent in January to 719 compared with the same month a year ago. The Chrysler Pacifica minivan posted a 152 per cent sales increase to 522, marking its best January ever. The 2018 Pacifica was also named “Best Minivan of 2018” by AJAC (Automobile Journalists Association of Canada) in January.

Dodge Brand

Dodge brand total sales declined 13 per cent to 4,353. Dodge Grand Caravan sales results increased 37 per cent compared with the same month a year earlier.

Ram Truck Brand

Ram Truck brand sales were down 16 per cent to 5,406 compared with the previous year. Ram ProMaster Van sales increased 32 per cent to 334. Ram unveiled the new 2019 1500 pickup truck at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January. The truck is slated to start production by the end of the first quarter.

Alfa Romeo Brand

Alfa Romeo brand sales of 96 vehicles were led by Stelvio with 65 sales followed by Giulia with 29.

In January, FCA México recorded sales of 7,514 units.

"We started the year with two important announcements, the new 2019 Jeep® Cherokee and 2019 Ram 1500. Both vehicles were revealed during the North American International Auto Show in Detroit," said Bruno Cattori, President & CEO of FCA México. “In addition, we have received several awards for vehicles that are part of our portfolio, proving around the world the capabilities and great quality of our products.”


Alfa Romeo
Alfa Romeo, started the year with sales of 13 units.

Chrysler
Chrysler recorded sales of 55 units. Last month, Chrysler Pacifica was named to Car and Driver’s 10Best Trucks and SUVs list for a second consecutive year.

Dodge

Dodge recorded sales of 2,132 units. Dodge Attitude continues as top leader of the brand, registering 1,415 units sold. Dodge Grand Caravan sales increased 74 percent compared to January 2017. Sales of the Dodge Journey were 255 units. Dodge Neon, a vehicle that stands out for its great equipment, sold 233 units.

In January, Dodge Challenger was awarded for highest model loyalty in the non-luxury mid-size sport segment for the sixth time since the Automotive Loyalty Awards began.

FIAT
Fiat sold 919 units. Fiat Mobi sold 438 units, up 19 percent over prior year, becoming sales leader of the brand. This car offers one of the best safety features in its class, from its entry version it has double front airbag, ABS breaking system and automatic emergency lighting system. Sales of Fiat Palio Adventure were 27 percent higher than in January 2017. Fiat Uno sold 349 units.

Jeep
Jeep sold 1,174 units, up 30 percent versus 2017. Jeep Wrangler sold 338 units, best January in its history. Jeep Renegade, the entry vehicle of the brand, sold 320 units; this vehicle leads the premium small SUV segment. The new Jeep Compass, proudly assembled in Mexico, sold 217 units, showing a 131 percent sales increase.

Last month, during the North American International Auto Show, we launched the 2019 Jeep Cherokee, which has a revamped front and back that highlight the brand´s heritage.

In January, the Jeep brand was recognized by IHS Markit for the second year in a row for having the highest conquest performance.

Jeep Grand Cherokee, the sales leader of its segment, sold 276 units. Jeep Grand Cherokee was awarded by IHS Markit for highest model loyalty in the non-luxury mid-size SUV segment for the fourth year in a row and the ninth time since the Automotive Loyalty Awards began, while Jeep Wrangler was the highest model loyalty in the non-luxury compact SUV segment for the second year in a row.

Mitsubishi Motors
Mitsubishi Motors Mexico reported sales of 1,284 units. Sales were driven by Mitsubishi Mirage, which sold 579 units, and by Mitsubishi L200, which sold 530 units.

Ram
Ram brand sold 1,937 units. The commercial Ram division consolidates as leader in the compact commercial vehicles segment with a 40 percent market share with Ram 700 and Ram ProMaster Rapid, the last one achieved best sales month ever. Ram also has the sport division, with Ram Hemi, Sport and R/T having the most complete range in the sport pickup segment.

Last month in the luxury Ram division, the company launched the all-new 2019 Ram 1500, the most luxurious, technologically advanced and efficient pickup truck in its class. This vehicle had a great impact at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Cars.com editors named the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 “Best of Show” for the 2018 North American International Auto Show.

Ram 1500 was ranked as the highest model loyalty in the non-luxury full-size half-ton pickup segment for the second consecutive year in the Automotive Loyalty Awards from IHS Markit.
