FCA US LLC today reported sales of 176,033 units, an 11 percent decrease compared with sales in August 2016 (196,805 units).

In August, retail sales of 140,379 units were down 7 percent compared with the same month in 2016 and represented 80 percent of total sales. In line with FCA’s strategy to reduce sales to the daily rental segment, fleet sales of 35,654 units were down, as expected, 23 percent year over year. The largest planned volume reduction in August fleet sales came from the Jeep® brand, which reduced its fleet sales number by 66 percent year over year. Fleet sales represented 20 percent of total August sales.

Six FCA US vehicles recorded their best August sales ever, including the Dodge Challenger and Chrysler Pacifica. The Jeep Compass, Jeep Renegade, Ram ProMaster and Ram ProMaster City also posted their best ever August sales. The Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Wrangler turned in double-digit percentage increases in August, compared with the same month a year ago. The Dodge Grand Caravan posted a 62 percent year-over-year sales increase for its best August sales since 2004.

Dodge Brand
The Dodge Challenger recorded its best ever August sales. Challenger sales were up 19 percent, its third record sales month this year. Dodge Charger sales increased 11 percent compared with the same month in 2016. The Charger had its best August sales since 2006. Sales of the Dodge Grand Caravan minivan were up 62 percent, its best August sales since 2004.

Jeep® Brand

The Jeep Compass and Jeep Renegade each recorded their best ever August sales. Sales of the Jeep Grand Cherokee – the most-awarded SUV ever – were up 28 percent for its best August sales since the year 2000. For the seventh-consecutive year, the Grand Cherokee last month won AutoPacific’s Ideal Vehicle Award (IVA) for the mid-size SUV segment. The Jeep Wrangler posted a 10 percent year-over-year sales gain.

Ram Truck Brand

The Ram ProMaster and Ram ProMaster City each turned in their best August sales ever. ProMaster sales were up 45 percent year over year, while ProMaster City sales increased 14 percent. With the start of 2018 model-year production, the Ram 3500 Heavy Duty pickup truck will offer a segment-dominating 930 lb.-ft. of torque and the exclusive ability to tow 30,000 lbs. with a fifth-wheel hitch.

FIAT Brand
Sales of the Fiat 500L were up 8 percent in August, compared with the same month in 2016. The 500L expands the Cinquecento’s appeal by offering 42 percent extra interior space with comfortable seating for five, engaging driving dynamics and a 160-horsepower 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine, all wrapped in contemporary Italian design.

Chrysler Brand
Sales of the all-new Chrysler Pacifica – the most-awarded minivan of 2016 and 2017 – were up 2 percent in August for its best August since launch last year. The Pacifica bested the competition last month by winning AutoPacific’s Ideal Vehicle Award for the minivan segment.

Alfa Romeo Brand
Alfa Romeo brand sales of 1,140 units were up significantly compared with the same month a year ago as the all-new Alfa Romeo Stelvio begins to arrive at U.S. dealerships.

FCA Mexico reported sales of 8,850 units in August 2017, up 13 percent versus 2016 and the best August since 2008.

“Last month we recorded a new sales record, our best August in nine years. This record was due to our extensive and revamped product portfolio, which consists of different products that adapt to the Mexican market needs,” said Bruno Cattori, President & CEO of FCA Mexico.

"To keep up with this trend, last month we launched the all-new Jeep® Compass, the most global vehicle of the Jeep brand, offering unique off-road capability, a fuel-efficient powertrain and extraordinary handling, reinventing the SUV segment with style and capability. This new vehicle is proudly produced in our Toluca Assembly Plant, located in Estado de México,” Cattori added.

Alfa Romeo
Alfa Romeo, the iconic Italian brand with more than a century of history, sold 39 units in August. The Alfa Romeo Giulietta recorded its best August since its launch, while the Alfa Romeo MiTo, Giulia and 4C continue their positive sales trend.

The Chrysler brand sold 76 units in August. The Chrysler Pacifica, the minivan than combines luxury and comfort for all its passengers, recorded sales of 72 units. The Chrysler Pacifica topped the competition, winning the Ideal Vehicle Awards in the Minivan segment by Auto Pacific.


Dodge sales improved 6 percent in August versus the same period in 2016, with 3,249 units. The Dodge Attitude, the vehicle best known by its fuel efficiency and good equipment, continues as the top leader of the brand for 31 consecutive months, selling 1,545 units in August, up 2 percent versus the prior year. The Dodge Vision and Dodge Neon sold 630 units and 464 units, a 33 percent and 16 percent increase, respectively. The Dodge Charger, one of the flagship muscle cars, recorded sales of 59 units.

FIAT sales rose 78 percent with 1,290 units to record its best August in its history. Last month the Fiat Mobi, the latest addition to the brand, showed excellent sales results with sales of 658 units. The Fiat UNO, the vehicle that redefines its segment with unique design and functionality, sold 425 units, a 7 percent improvement over prior year and its best August ever.

The FIAT brand continues growing the value proposition for its customers with the launch of one of the best customer support policies in the country, thanks to its 7-year powertrain warranty, seven years of road assistance and seven years of insurance against theft of interior parts. The FIAT Dealer Network continues to expand, aligned to the Group's strategy, and currently there are 120 dealers who distribute models throughout the country.

Jeep sales rose 11 percent versus August 2016 with 1,006 units. The all-new Jeep Compass, in its first sales month, sold 194 units in the Mexican market. The all-new Jeep Compass combines luxury, technology and all-terrain features, which make it unique in its class. The Jeep Compass is produced in the Toluca Assembly Plant in Toluca, Estado de México.

Another recently launched vehicle is the Jeep Renegade, which continues gaining acceptance among customers and last month sold 311 units. The Jeep Grand Cherokee, the most-awarded SUV ever, sold 275 units in August. Last month, for seventh consecutive year, the Jeep Grand Cherokee won AutoPacific’s Ideal Vehicle Award (IVA) for the Mid-Size SUV segment.

Mitsubishi Motors
Mitsubishi Motors Mexico finished the month with 1,147 units sold. Sales were led primarily by the Mitsubishi Mirage, which sold 495 units, and the Mitsubishi L200, which sold 471 units. Mitsubishi Motors sales were up 20 percent versus the prior year for the best August ever.

Ram sales grew 15 percent compared to August 2016, with 2,043 units sold for the best August ever. Sales were propelled by the Ram ProMaster Rapid, which achieved its best sales month ever, and the Ram 700; both continue as top leaders in their respective segments. Ram ProMaster sales increased 42 percent.

FCA Canada today reported August 2017 sales of 19,648 units. The Ram brand, Ram pickup and Jeep® Compass led the way, each setting an August monthly sales record. Overall, FCA Canada sales were down 9 per cent for the month from August 2016.

Sales Highlights
The Ram brand, offering Canada’s longest-lasting line of pickup trucks, continues to be a key sales contributor. Overall, Ram brand set a sales record for the month of August, with 8,447 units sold, an increase of 28 per cent compared with the same month last year. Ram light- and heavy-duty pickup trucks also marked an August sales record, with 8,043 trucks reported, an increase of 26 per cent versus 6,407 sales in August 2016.

Just in time for farming season, a new Ram truck has been designed specifically with farm families in mind. The Ram Harvest Edition is the industry's first agricultural market truck and is visually distinguished by two new colours: Case IH Red and New Holland Blue. Harvest Edition trucks are loaded with features that are designed to work. Among them, a ride-height increase of one inch and aggressive on/off-road tires to help owners comfortably and confidently navigate rough farm roads and fields. The Harvest Edition will be available across the Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 lineup, in all four-door Quad, Crew and Mega Cab configurations, all box lengths and all powertrains, including 5.7-litre HEMI® V-8, 6.4-litre HEMI V-8 and 6.7-litre Cummins Turbo Diesel.

Jeep Compass is Canada’s most capable compact SUV ever with best-in-class 4x4 capability and best-in-class off-road capability. Compass features a fuel-efficient 2.4-litre Tigershark Multi Air engine, delivering 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. For the month of August, 1,096 copies of the all-new Jeep Compass were reported sold, marking an increase of nearly 500 per cent compared with 184 sales in August 2016.
