FCA US Reports July 2017 Sales

Jeep® Compass, Chrysler Pacifica and Ram ProMaster City each post their best July sales ever

Chrysler 300 logs double-digit percentage increase in July

FCA US LLC today reported sales of 161,477 units, a 10 percent decrease compared with sales in July 2016 (180,389 units).

In July, retail sales of 145,391 units were down 6 percent compared with the same month in 2016 and represented 90 percent of total sales. In line with FCA’s strategy to reduce sales to the daily rental segment, fleet sales of 16,086 units were down, as expected, 35 percent year over year. The largest planned volume reduction in July fleet sales came from the Jeep® brand, which reduced its fleet sales number by 82 percent year over year. Fleet sales represented 10 percent of total July sales.

Three FCA US vehicles – the Jeep Compass, Chrysler Pacifica minivan and Ram ProMaster City – each posted their best July sales ever. The Jeep Grand Cherokee turned in its best July sales since 2005. Chrysler 300 sedan sales were up 31 percent in July, the largest year-over-year percentage increase of any FCA US vehicle in the month. Dodge Charger sales were up 9 percent in July as well, compared with the same month a year ago.

Jeep® Brand
Three Jeep models posted year-over-year increases in July. The Jeep Compass turned in its best July sales ever, while the Jeep Wrangler – the most capable and recognizable vehicle in the world – recorded a slight year-over-year increase in the month. Sales of the Jeep Grand Cherokee – the most-awarded SUV ever – were up 14 percent for its best July sales since 2005. The Wrangler was named best-in-class Entry SUV in Strategic Vision’s annual Total Quality Impact™ (TQI) report in July.

Ram Truck Brand

Ram Truck brand sales were up slightly year over year for its best July sales since 2005. In addition, the brand’s retail sales were up 7 percent in July, compared with the same month a year ago. The Ram ProMaster City van posted its best July sales ever. Ram Truck was the industry’s most improved truck brand in the recent J.D. Power 2017 U.S. Initial Quality Study™ (IQS). Ram Truck improved by nearly 25 percent its initial quality score from last year’s study.

Dodge Brand

Four Dodge brand vehicles – the Dodge Charger, Dodge Journey, Dodge Durango and Dodge Viper – each posted year-over-year sales increases in July, compared with the same month a year ago. Charger sales were up 9 percent year over year, while the Durango turned in its best July sales since 2011. For the fifth time in seven years, the Dodge Challenger ranked highest among all vehicles in the Midsize Sporty Car segment in J.D. Power’s 2017 U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study™.

Chrysler Brand
Sales of the all-new Chrysler Pacifica minivan and Chrysler 300 full-size sedan were up year-over-year in July. Sales of the Pacifica – the most-awarded minivan of 2016 and 2017 – increased 5 percent for its best July sales ever. Sales of the 300 increased 31 percent, the largest percentage increase of any FCA US model in July. The Pacifica continues to accumulate awards and accolades in 2017, ranking highest among minivans in its inaugural year in J.D. Power’s 2017 APEAL study. The study measures how gratifying a new vehicle is to own and drive, based on customer evaluations of 77 vehicle attributes of new 2017 model year vehicles. The Chrysler brand was the industry’s most-improved brand in the APEAL study.

FIAT Brand
Sales of the Fiat 500 and Fiat 500X were up in July, compared with the previous month of June. The all-new 2017 Fiat 124 Spider Abarth took the top award in the Small Convertible category at the seventh annual Topless in Miami Presented by Haartz competitive car event hosted by the Southern Automotive Media Association (SAMA).

Alfa Romeo Brand

Alfa Romeo brand sales of 1,225 units were up significantly compared with the same month a year ago.

FCA Canada Reports July 2017 Sales; All-time Best Month for Jeep® Brand

Today, FCA Canada reported July 2017 sales, led strongly by the legendary Jeep® brand, which recorded its all-time best monthly sales in Company history.

Overall, FCA Canada reported sales of 23,467 vehicles, down 3 per cent as compared with July 2016.

Sales Highlights
The Jeep brand saw sales of 9,842 units for July 2017 – its highest monthly total in Canada in the brand’s storied 75-year history. Further, that figure also represents a significant sales improvement of 36 per cent over the same month last year.

Leading the way was the mid-size Jeep Cherokee. With sales of 3,689 units, it was not only the brand’s best seller, but matched its previous all-time record month, set in July 2015. Jeep Grand Cherokee - the most awarded SUV ever – also had a strong monthly performance, with sales of 1,888 units, up 69 per cent compared with sales from July 2016.

Canadian consumer interest and sales of the all-new Jeep Compass are also on the rise. The completely re-engineered, global, compact SUV recorded a 383 per cent increase in sales for July 2017 with 1,039 units sold, versus the previous model’s sales of 215 sold in July 2016.

Jeep Compass expands the brand’s global reach with an unmatched combination of attributes that include best-in-class 4x4 off-road capability, advanced fuel-efficient powertrains, premium and authentic Jeep design, superior on-road driving dynamics, open-air freedom, and a host of innovative safety and advanced technology offerings.

The 2017 Jeep Compass is available in four different trim configurations: Sport, North, Limited and Trailhawk.

The Canadian-made Chrysler Pacifica minivan also saw year-over-year sales gains of 16 per cent for July 2017. The all-new Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid have garnered more than 50 awards since their debuts, including an Altair Enlighten Award for engineering achievement in weight-savings and a J.D. Power 2017 APEAL award. The latter measures how gratifying a new vehicle is to own and drive based on input from actual consumers. Chrysler Pacifica topped its class in its inaugural year.

FCA México reported sales of 8,459 units, up 11 percent versus 2016.

“Last month, we carried out the Alfa Romeo test drive where members of the Mexican press were able to witness the evolution of a brand with more heritage and legacy in the automotive industry, taking each vehicle to the limit," said Bruno Cattori, President & CEO of FCA México. "Besides celebrating the legendary Alfa Romeo brand, the press also enjoyed the unique style it has built for over 100 years.

"Our vehicles continue to receive awards," Cattori added. "In July, Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles were honored in their respective segments by J.D. Power and Strategic Vision in quality, design and performance categories."

Alfa Romeo
Alfa Romeo, the legendary Italian brand with unique features, such as design, sportiness and performance, achieved its best July sales with 41 units, a 52 percent improvement over last year. Alfa Romeo MiTo, Alfa Romeo 4C, Giulia and Giulietta continued their positive sales trends.

Chrysler sold 84 units. Chrysler Pacifica, the most awarded minivan during 2016 and 2017, registered a sales increase of 74 percent versus the prior month. Last month, it led its segment in the J.D. Power 2017 APEAL Study™ and also won first place in the Quality Awards in Strategic Vision’s 23rd annual Total Quality Impact™ report.

Dodge sales improved 4 percent versus the same period in 2016, with 3,037 units sold. Dodge Attitude, the best-in-class fuel-efficiency vehicle, continued as top leader of the brand by reporting sales of 1,617 units. Dodge Neon and Dodge Vision sold 478 units and 304 units, respectively, a 57 percent and 19 percent increase. Dodge Charger, one of the most powerful four-door muscle cars, sold 51 units.

Last month, Dodge Durango and Dodge Charger performed well in the APEAL study by J.D. Power, ranking second and third in the Midsize SUV and Large Car segments, respectively. These vehicles were also awarded in Strategic Vision’s 23rd annual Total Quality Impact™ report.

FIAT placed on the market 1,364 units, up 78 percent versus prior year; best July in its history. Last month, Mobi achieved best sales ever with 754 units. Another vehicle that continues with important results is Fiat Palio Sporting, which improved sales 85 percent, while Fiat Palio Adventure sales rose 36 percent versus 2016, both achieved best July sales ever.

The 2018 Fiat Mobi and Uno models now include an infotainment system called FIAT Live On, establishing a new connectivity, navigation and multimedia experience that raises the bar in their segments.

Jeep sales rose 6 percent with 943 units sold. The new Jeep Renegade, the most capable Jeep in its class, sold 366 units. Jeep Grand Cherokee sales improved 1 percent with 275 units sold. Jeep Wrangler reported sales of 189 units. This iconic vehicle led the segment in Strategic Vision’s 23rd annual Total Quality Impact™ report.

Mitsubishi Motors
Mitsubishi Motors Mexico finished the month with 1,195 units sold, up 3 percent versus prior year. Last month, Mitsubishi L200 sold 497 units, a 40 percent increase versus prior year; best July ever. Mitsubishi Mirage reported sales of 520 units.

Ram sales grew 8 percent, compared to July 2016, with 1,795 units sold. Sales were propelled by Ram ProMaster Rapid and Ram 700, both continue as top leaders in their segments. Ram ProMaster sales increased 11 percent.
