FCA US Reports March 2017 U.S. Sales

Dodge brand sales up 10 percent; four Dodge brand vehicles post sales gains
Ram Truck brand sales up 6 percent; Ram pickup sales increase 6 percent year over year
Jeep® Grand Cherokee sales increase 22 percent compared with same month a year ago
Fiat 500 sales up 12 percent for the month

FCA US LLC today reported U.S. sales of 190,254 units, a 5 percent decrease compared with sales in March 2016 (199,467 units).

In March, fleet sales of 43,992 units were down 15 percent year over year as FCA US continues its strategy of reducing its sales to the daily rental segment. Fleet sales represented 23 percent of total FCA US sales in March. FCA US retail sales of 146,262 units were down 1 percent for the month, and represented 77 percent of total March sales.

Dodge brand and Ram Truck brand sales increased year over year in March. Dodge brand sales were up 10 percent, led by the 100 percent increase in Dodge Journey crossover sales. Ram Truck brand sales were up 6 percent in March as the Ram pickup and Ram ProMaster van each posted year-over-year sales gains. Sales of the Jeep® Grand Cherokee – the Jeep brand’s volume leader in March – were up 22 percent compared with the same month in 2016. Sales of the Fiat 500 and the all-new Chrysler Pacifica minivan increased year over year as well in the month.

Dodge Brand
Four Dodge brand vehicles posted year-over-year sales increases in March, led by the Dodge Journey crossover’s 100 percent sales gain. Sales of the Dodge Challenger were up 17 percent in March. The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon – the Dodge brand’s new ultimate performance halo car – will be unveiled this month during the 2017 New York International Auto Show week. The Dodge Grand Caravan minivan and the Dodge Viper also turned in year-over-year sales gains for the month. Dodge brand sales were up 10 percent compared with the same month in 2016.

Ram Truck Brand
Ram pickup truck sales increased 6 percent in March, compared with the same month a year ago. In addition, sales of the Ram ProMaster van were up 24 percent for the month. Ram Truck brand sales, which include the pickup, ProMaster and ProMaster City, were up 6 percent in March. The brand last month unveiled a new exterior color shade for its luxurious and capable Laramie Longhorn line of pickup trucks. RV Match Walnut Brown will serve as the model’s new two-tone contrast color, replacing White Gold. The Ram Laramie Longhorn is the Texas Auto Writers Association’s Luxury Truck of Texas.

FIAT Brand
Sales of the Fiat 500 increased 12 percent in March, compared with the same month a year ago. Fiat 124 Spider sales were up 39 percent compared with the previous month of February. Experts at consider the all-new 2017 Fiat 124 Spider best in its segment, naming it the “Best New Convertible” of 2017.

Jeep® Brand
The Jeep Grand Cherokee – the brand’s volume leader for the month – recorded a 22 percent year-over-year sales increase in March for its best sales month this year. The all-new 2017 Jeep Compass – the most capable compact SUV ever with the most advanced 4x4 systems in its class – began shipping to Jeep dealerships in March. The new Compass expands the Jeep brand’s global reach with an unmatched combination of attributes that includes legendary and best-in-class 4x4 off-road capability, advanced fuel-efficient powertrains, premium and authentic Jeep design, superior on-road driving dynamics, open-air freedom, and a host of innovative safety and advanced technology offerings.

Chrysler Brand
Sales of the all-new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica – the most awarded minivan of 2016 and 2017 – were up in its third month of year-over-year comparisons, and increased 3 percent compared with sales in the previous month of February. March also was the Pacifica’s best sales month so far this year. The Pacifica continues to earn a plethora of awards and accolades in 2017, landing on Kelley Blue Book’s list of the “12 Best Family Cars of 2017” in the best minivans category, and “2017 North American Utility of the Year.”

Alfa Romeo Brand
Alfa Romeo brand sales of 555 units were up 1,191 percent compared with the same month a year ago.

Maserati Brand1
Maserati brand sales of 1,312 units were up 32 percent compared with the same month in 2016.

FCA Canada Reports March 2017 Sales

FCA Canada today reported March 2017 sales of 26,531 vehicles, up slightly as compared with sales in March 2016 of 26,469.

Retail sales were 17,949 units in March 2017, down 362 units from March 2016. FCA Canada fleet sales were 8,582 units (up 5 per cent from March 2016).

Sales Highlights
Overall, Dodge brand sales rose 27 per cent in March 2017 to 9,362 units, as compared with 7,392 sales in the same month last year. Dodge vehicles continue to resonate with Canadians, including the Canadian-made Dodge Grand Caravan, which is up 47 per cent versus March 2016, and the Dodge Journey, which is up 40 per cent. The Brampton, Ontario-built Dodge Challenger has seen sales increases throughout the first quarter of 2017, with March sales up 102 per cent versus the same month last year.

Momentum continues to build for the all-new, Canadian-made, Chrysler Pacifica - the most-awarded minivan of the year. Sales in March 2017 were 648 units, an increase of 159 units over last month’s figure.

Overall, Fiat brand sales increased 103 per cent in March 2017, versus March 2016. With its trademark Italian styling, combined with functionality, efficient design and innovative technology, the iconic Fiat 500 saw its sales increase 59 per cent versus the same month last year. Meanwhile, the brand’s small crossover Fiat 500X saw a sales increase of 167 per cent.

FCA México Sales Increase 6 Percent in March

FCA México sales grew 6 percent versus March 2016 and, in the first quarter, sales increased 10 percent over last year
Alfa Romeo registered best March ever, boost by Giulietta sales, which recorded best sales month ever
Dodge sales increased 17 percent versus 2016, pushed by Dodge Attitude sales, which registered best March since its launch
FIAT recorded best March in its history with sales gains of 56 percent versus last year, pushed by Mobi and Uno, which logged best March ever.

FCA México reported March sales of 8,436 units, up 6 percent versus 2016. In the first quarter, FCA México recorded a sales increase of 10 percent over last year.

“In order to broaden the Alfa Romeo lineup, we launched the Alfa Romeo Giulia last month, with 505 horsepower, setting the fastest lap for a four-door production sedan at Nürburgring," said Bruno Cattori, President and CEO of FCA México. "With more than 40 awards and its iconic Italian style, it has gained the attention of customers around the world, becoming the flagship vehicle for the brand and a reference for the segment.

"Our latest product launches have excited our clients,” Cattori added. “As part of our sales strategy, last month we introduced a new flexible financing program, 'Arma tu Plan,' which simplifies vehicle purchasing with down payment and monthly fees established according to customer needs. This is very important because two-thirds of our sales are carried out through financing.”

Alfa Romeo
Alfa Romeo reached sales of 49 units, a 96 percent sales increase compared to March 2016; best March in the history of the brand in Mexico. Alfa Romeo Giulietta set a new sales record; best sales month ever. Alfa Romeo MiTo and Alfa Romeo 4C continued their positive sales momentum. To broaden the brand lineup, last month we launched Alfa Romeo's most powerful production car ever, Alfa Romeo Giulia. This vehicle has been awarded for features such as Italian design, technology and security. In its first sales month, it has received great acceptance within the Mexican market.

Chrysler brand sold 94 units. The minivan that raises the bar in its segment, the Chrysler Pacifica, recorded sales of 59 units in its third month. The iconic Chrysler 300 reported a 33 percent sales increase over March 2016.

The Dodge brand posted sales of 2,919 units, an increase of 17 percent compared to March 2016. Dodge Attitude achieved sales of 1,609 units, a 25 percent increase compared to the same month last year; best March ever. Dodge Challenger sales results in March 2017 were 52 percent better than in 2016. Dodge Neon sold 440 vehicles while Dodge Vision sold 217 units. Dodge Grand Caravan sales increased 58 percent versus prior month.

In March, FIAT reached a 56 percent sales increase versus March 2016, with 1,075 units; best March in its history. Since its launch, the Fiat Mobi has built sales momentum in the market; last month, it registered sales of 415 units. Fiat Uno reached sales of 446 units, a 53 increase; best march since its launch.

Jeep brand continued its positive trend with 825 units sold. Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Wrangler sold 380 and 242 units, respectively.

Mitsubishi Motors
Mitsubishi Motors Mexico reported sales of 1,238 units. Mitsubishi Mirage sold 689 units, up 66 percent, while Mitsubishi L200 sold 435 units, an 8 percent sales increase versus last year.

Ram brand registered sales of 2,236 units, a gain of 11 percent in March 2017, compared to the same month last year. Ram 700 remains the leader of its segment, reporting sales of 878 units. Ram 4000 sold 351 units, up 30 percent versus prior year. The latest brand launch, Ram ProMaster Rapid, has received very good acceptance in the market, selling 368 units in March.
