FCA US Reports September 2017 Sales

FCA US retail sales up year over year in September, compared with same month a year ago
Jeep brand and Ram Truck brand retail sales up year over year
Jeep® Compass sales up 75 percent; best sales month ever
Jeep Renegade, Chrysler Pacifica, Ram ProMaster and Ram ProMaster City each post best September sales ever
Dodge Durango sales increase 45 percent; best September sales since 2005
A 41 percent year-over-year decline in fleet sales is in line with the FCA US strategy to reduce sales to the daily rental segment

FCA US LLC today reported sales of 174,266 units, a 10 percent decrease compared with sales in September 2016 (192,883 units).

In September, retail sales of 146,904 units were up 0.3 percent compared with the same month in 2016 and represented 84 percent of total sales. In line with FCA’s strategy to reduce sales to the daily rental segment, fleet sales of 27,362 units were down, as expected, 41 percent year over year. The largest planned volume reduction in September fleet sales came from the Jeep® brand, which reduced its fleet sales number by 67 percent year over year. Fleet sales represented 16 percent of total FCA US September sales.

Five FCA US vehicles posted record sales in September, including the Jeep Compass. Compass sales were up 75 percent in September, the compact SUV’s best sales month ever. In addition, the Jeep Renegade, Chrysler Pacifica, Ram ProMaster and Ram ProMaster City each recorded their best September sales ever. The Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango and Fiat 500L each posted at least double-digit percentage increases in September, compared with the same month a year ago.

Jeep® Brand

The Jeep Compass posted its best sales month ever, while the Jeep Renegade recorded its best September sales ever. In addition, sales of the Jeep Grand Cherokee – the most-awarded SUV ever – were up 20 percent for its best September sales since the year 2000. Jeep Wrangler sales were up 10 percent in September. While Jeep brand total sales were down, due to its planned reduction in fleet sales to daily rental car companies, the brand’s retail sales at Jeep dealerships were up 9 percent in September, compared with the same month a year ago.

Ram Truck Brand

The Ram ProMaster full-size van and the Ram ProMaster City van each posted their best September sales ever. The Ram pickup truck recorded its best sales month so far this year. Ram Truck brand sales are up 5 percent calendar year to date, compared with the same nine-month period in 2016. The Ram Truck brand’s retail sales were up 3 percent in September, compared with the same month a year ago. The Ram Truck brand unveiled new-for-2018 updates to two of its most popular models at the State Fair of Texas in September. Laramie Longhorn Southfork and Heavy Duty Lone Star Silver models will offer truck buyers an even wider selection of exterior appointments and content.

Chrysler Brand
Sales of the all-new Chrysler Pacifica – the most-awarded minivan of 2016 and 2017 – were up 18 percent last month for its best September sales since launch last year. Parents magazine and Edmunds have named the all-new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica the “Best Minivan” on their list of the “10 Best Family Cars of 2017.”

FIAT Brand

Sales of the Fiat 500L were up 103 percent last month for its best September sales since 2015 and its best sales month this year. Also in September, the FIAT brand announced the addition of the 2017 Fiat 500X Urbana Edition to its Italian-designed, fun-to-drive Fiat 500X lineup, offering customers yet another way to showcase their personality with their FIAT vehicle. The new 500X Urbana Edition takes the brand’s top-selling Trekking trim, best known for its rugged exterior and interior appearance, and adds unique content with black and copper accents to create a fresh new personality option for FIAT brand customers.

Dodge Brand
Dodge Durango sales were up 45 percent in September, compared with the same month a year ago, for its best September sales since 2005. Last month the editors at WardsAuto named the new 2018 Dodge Durango SRT to the Wards 10 Best User Experience List for 2017 in recognition of its advanced technology and ease of use. Offering an array of advanced technology features, the Durango SRT comes equipped with a new Uconnect fourth-generation system that includes performance improvements with quicker startup time and enhanced processing power.

Alfa Romeo Brand
Alfa Romeo brand sales of 1,268 units were up significantly compared with the same month a year ago as the all-new Alfa Romeo Stelvio SUV begins to arrive in greater numbers at U.S. dealerships.

FCA México reported sales of 8,544 units.

“We continue reporting sales records due to our attractive product portfolio and the renewal of our dealer network, creating more appealing facilities and improving customer care,” said Bruno Cattori, President & CEO of FCA México. “Last month, we made two major announcements — the opening of the first Alfa Romeo boutique in Monterrey, extending our dealer network across the country, and Fiat brand ranked highest in overall satisfaction among non-premium brands on the J.D. Power 2017 Mexico Customer Service Index (CSI) study.”

Alfa Romeo

Alfa Romeo, a brand that continues building its legacy thanks to the numerous records and triumphs of its new product portfolio, sold 28 units. Alfa Romeo MiTo, Giulietta, Giulia and 4C continued their positive sales trend.

Last month, we opened the first exclusive boutique concept for Alfa Romeo in the City of Monterrey, located in one of the most exclusive areas and one of the most important markets in the country. This new sales point allows us to be closer to our customers and followers who know and admire Alfa Romeo.

Chrysler sold 57 units. Chrysler Pacifica has revolutionized the minivan segment with nearly 40 new minivan firsts. After creating the minivan segment more than 30 years ago, FCA now boasts an unmatched 115 minivan innovations. Pacifica uses an all-new platform for class-leading ride, handling, noise, vibration and harshness.


Dodge sold 2,970 units. Dodge Attitude, the sedan best known for its fuel efficiency, sold 1,823 units, up 26 percent versus prior year; best September ever. Dodge Neon reported a sales increase of 9 percent versus 2016 with 462 units.


FIAT, the Italian brand, sold 733 units, up 8 percent versus 2016. Fiat Mobi registered sales of 319 units. Fiat Uno, the vehicle that redefines its segment, sold 283 units. Fiat Ducato sales rose 19 percent.

Last month, Fiat ranked highest in overall satisfaction among non-premium brands on the J.D. Power 2017 Mexico CSI study. The CSI study is based on the evaluations of 6,999 interviews with new-vehicle owners in Mexico approximately 12 to 36 months after purchase. The study was conducted March through August 2017.

FIAT surpassed total sales registered in 2016. In just nine months, the Italian brand sold 9,827 units in the country, compared to 9,363 placed on the market during the 12 months of 2016. FIAT will close 2017 establishing a new sales record.

Jeep sales rose 22 percent versus September 2016 with 1,197 units sold. Grand Cherokee, the most awarded SUV, posted sales of 444 units, up 17 percent over prior year. Jeep Renegade sold 356 units. The most recent product launch for the brand in the domestic market, the 2018 Jeep Compass, sold 204 units. Last month, this vehicle was awarded the 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP due to its security features. The iconic Jeep Wrangler sold 168 units.

Mitsubishi Motors

Mitsubishi Motors finished the month with 1,306 units sold, up 7 percent versus prior year. Sales were led primarily by Mitsubishi Mirage, which sold 620 units, an increase of 33 percent, while Mitsubishi L200 sold 538 units, up 21 percent; best September ever.

Ram sold 2,253 units, a 7 increase compared to last year; best September ever. Ram 700 and Ram ProMaster Rapid continue leading their segments by selling 927 units and 371 units, respectively. Ram ProMaster reported sales of 116 units.

Last month, Ram México successfully introduced the new 2018 Ram R/T Crew Cab. This new version offers a second seat row, without losing its sportiness. Among the main equipment are 20” black sport wheels, new grill color, power sunroof, sport seats in leather and cloth, premium sound, 8.4” touchscreen radio with Apple Carplay and Android Auto and electric tuning pedals.

FCA Canada Reports Record Calendar-year-to-date Ram Sales in September 2017

Ram brand and Ram trucks post record calendar-year-to-date sales
Ram ProMaster City and Van combined sales up 22 per cent
Jeep® Compass sales up 268 per cent

FCA Canada today reported its September 2017 sales results, with the Ram brand hauling in another strong month. Ram brand and Ram pickup trucks both set a calendar-year-to-date sales record, up 15 and 14 per cent, respectively. Overall, FCA Canada sales of 18,444 vehicles were down 6 per cent for the month, when compared with the sales results from September 2016.

Sales Highlights
The Ram brand continues to be a backbone in FCA Canada’s sales performance. In total, the brand sold 8,136 units in September, beating the previous September monthly sales results by 16 per cent. The Ram light- and heavy-duty pickup line also marked a successful September, with 7,732 sales reported, an increase of 16 per cent versus 6,655 sales in September of 2016. On the Ram Commercial side, combined ProMaster City and Van sales are up 22 per cent for the month, compared with September 2016 results.

Recently, the Ram brand announced the new Ram Laramie Longhorn Southfork edition. The newest member of Ram’s opulent offerings builds upon the well-appointed Longhorn trim with even more luxury, technology and refinement. Highlights include 100 per cent full-grain leather seats, a real Walnut-trimmed steering wheel, a Light Greystone suede headliner (late availability), Galvanized-appearance trim pieces and unique Walnut-coloured real ash wood accents. The center stack features Ram’s newest technology with the Uconnect 4C 8.4-inch touchscreen. The exterior features include a stretched “Longhorn” badge across the tailgate in bright chrome.

Loaded with more than 65 standard and available safety and security features, plus best-in-class 4x4 capability, the all-new Jeep® Compass has expanded the iconic brand’s global reach from North America to more than 100 countries. Canada’s most capable compact SUV recorded sales of 548 units in September 2017, increasing sales 268 per cent compared with the same month last year.
