Had the opportunity to Drive a the Nitro today.
A base model 4X4. LOOKS sharp, from the Plastic side mouldings up... The large Black Plastic trim pieces look like crap... Go for the SLT or RT model to get color matched body parts...

Compared to the Liberty I currently drive, The Nitro has more get-up-and-go, is quieter at highway speed, but is floaty in the suspension. The stereo was a base unit, OK sound quality, but was heavy with FRONT end sound, like the speakers in the back were not working - they were. Get the preimum sound package...

I also found the side mirrors to be Small - but then compared to the Liberty's HUGE mirrors, what do you expect... People who drive Liberty's will know exactly what mean...

The silver paint is NOT an eye catcher - I did not get STARES that you normally get with NEW vehicels out in the general public for the first time... I think this would be different with the RED paint.

The dealer advised that the SLT model in the color I am after (red) was NOT available anywhere in ONTARIO... Only TWO silver SLT's were at dealers...
I expect this will change in the coming weeks as more production hits the showrooms...
He also said NAV systems were on delay - he could not even ORDER this option at this time. For 500.00 buy after market...

The long wait is almost over...

Regards

Whats the word on the Nav system? Is it really worth getting and who makes it? I use a portable TomTom right now that I can easily just move over into the Nitro. I really like it, its easy to use, and I think that TeleAtlas is very good at keeping their maps up to date. But on the other hand I think the on board nav could look pretty stylish.
the dealer near me has an orange one, but i have not seen any reds yet, I see all kinds of black ones(i know they are different, b/c they are all at different dealers or passing me on the highway with dealer plates lol)
:D
well I am waiting for the nav system to come out, I'm using a portable nav. now but want the one with HDD, also want to find a place to buy the 20" wheels ( OEM ones) with tires to replace my 17"s ...ohh I've got a Blue SLT !!!!

Did you look into getting the 20" wheels as an option on your SLT? I want these as well, but haven't seen any around.
