Ford Motor Co.’s next-generation GPS navigation systems will help drivers find cheaper gasoline.
Beginning with the 2009 Ford Flex and F-150, the automaker will offer Sirius Travel Link, which provides information such as gasoline prices, traffic updates and movie listings on the navigation screen. A driver could compare prices at, say, four nearby gasoline stations.
Ford is scheduled to showcase the technology at the International Consumer Electronics Show next week in Las Vegas.
Ford is also expected to announce at the show that the 2009 Flex and F-150 will be the first Ford vehicles in North America to be equipped with audio systems from Sony Electronics. Ford plans to make Sony the exclusive supplier of in-car audio for the Ford and Mercury brands. Ford currently offers several makers' audio systems.
