Lincoln to Offer Free Maintenance

Jun 21, 2010

One annoying cost of owning a car is maintaining it. If the trend toward automakers offering free maintenance programs continues, maybe that cost will disappear. And, with another car maker announcing a new free maintenance program, it looks like the free maintenance trend is going strong.

USA Today writes, "Among luxury car makers, free scheduled maintenance is all the rage. So we guess it's no surprise that Lincoln is jumping on board -- at least for a summer."

Left Lane News adds, "Lincoln has announced that all purchases between now and September 7 of this summer will come with free scheduled maintenance for the first three years or 45,000 miles."

Kicking Tires explains, "The program covers scheduled maintenance -- including oil changes, tire rotation, inspections and wear-and-tear items like windshield wipers and brake linings -- for three years or 45,000 miles." The program comes as "Ford is trying to shine a spotlight on Lincoln as it phases out Mercury this year." The free maintenance offer applies to both 2010 and 2011 models bought between now and September 7.

The Lincoln free maintenance program joins programs offered by the likes of BMW, Jaguar, Volvo and Volkswagen. USA Today explains that automakers offer the free maintenance because "It brings customers back to showrooms, encouraging them to maintain a relationship that could result in purchase of future vehicles or more expensive repairs."
