MY 2008 DODGE NITRO WAS EXPERIENCING A SHAKING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL WHICH WAS NOTICABLY ESPECIALLY DRIVING 60MPH PLUS ON THE INTERSTATE. ALTHOUGH THE WIERDEST THING IS THAT THE SUV DID NOT DO IT ALL THE TIME. SO THAT RULED OUT THE FRONT WHEEL BALANCE WHICH IS WERE WE WOULD HAVE STARTED AND THE WHEELS WERE JUST BALANCED AFTER THE RIMS WERE PUT ON. SO I HAPPEN TO GO OUT TO THE SUV AND IT WAS PARKED ON AN INCLINE ON OUR DRIVEWAY AND I TURNED THE WHEELS ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT AND HAPPENED TO ROTATE THE STEERING WHEEL BACK AND FORTH APPROX 5-10 DEGREES THEN I HEARD A CLUNK WHICH DID NOT SOUND NORMAL. NO I ASKED MY WIFE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE I LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE CAR AND HEARD IT AROUND THE RACK AND PINION. I TRIED TO TIGHTEN THE CONNECTING ROD FROM THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RACK AND THAT DID NOT HELP. SO IT MUST BE SOMETHING INTERNAL THAT IS GOING OUT. LOOKS AS THE THOUGH THE RACK WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED.
