Well this is the first good news (if it holds up) that the Nitro and Liberty will not be cut from production from the Mayor of Toledo Ohio where they are built.

"I appreciate the assurances from the company that they will continue to invest in its Toledo facilities and that they will not be cutting any of the vehicles made at those facilities," Mr. Finkbeiner said.

As part of Chrysler LLC's new wave of cost cutting, the Toledo Jeep Assembly complex will lose its third shift and 750 workers who make the Jeep Liberty and Dodge Nitro.

The elimination of the shift starting next year will occur just 16 months after the evening work began to help make the then-new Nitro.

However, Nitro sales have been lagging, and the factory is now making more Libertys and fewer Nitros.
