A woman who cut her hand on the emblem of her 2001 Chrysler Town & Country is seeking $200,000 for injuries so severe they caused permanent disability, disfigurement and the loss of a normal life.
Rebecca Myers filed suit against Chrysler and Roberts Ford in Wood River Dec. 31 in Madison County Circuit Court. She claims the emblem and doorway of her mini van contained a design or manufacturing defect which rendered the vehicle "not reasonable (sic) safe" for its intended use.
Myers claims the emblem contained a sharp edge which protruded in the area of the driver's left hand and that the protrusion was a defective condition because it "stuck out too much" and that it was in an improper location relative to the driver's left hand and doorway controls.
The suit alleges that on March 13, 2006, Myers was in her vehicle and when she was using the inside door handle of the driver's door, her left hand came into contact with the protruding Chrysler emblem. The incident caused her to sustain an injury that led to pain and suffering, medical expenses and lost wages.Madison County Record | Mini van owner seeks $200k for cutting hand on Chrysler emblem
