Apopka Police Department gets pink cruiser for Breast Cancer Awareness

September 26, 2015

The Apopka Police Department is going pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness month.

At Apopka City Hall Friday, the police department unveiled a Dodge Nitro with the police shield wrapped from behind by a pink ribbon.

The vehicle design was donated by Orlando’s Dana Safety Supply, which spent several days removing old decals and applying the new pink scheme. Dana also provides the vehicle decal work for Apopka’s other police cruisers.

The Apopka Police Department is teaming up with Debbie Turner’s Cancer Care and Resource Center for events throughout October. Turner’s non-profit organization is raising money to provide 220 free mammograms this year to women in Apopka.

“The Police Department had a great opportunity to work with Dana Safety to provide us with this wonderful [vehicle] wrap to show the city and the police department support for breast cancer awareness month,” said Apopka Police Chief Michael McKinley. “We are excited to have it.”
