Nissan, General Motors and Lotus Announce Recalls

If you own a Nissan 370Z, Infiniti G37 Coupe, Chevrolet Express, GMC Savana or Lotus Elise, you may need to head over to the dealership. These cars and vans are all affected by recent recalls.

The 2011 Nissan 370Z and Infiniti G37 Coupe from model years 2011 and 2012 may have faulty power windows. They both come standard with pinch protection, so if the window is going up and senses that an object like a finger or an arm is in the way, it won’t close. Nissan North America says in its recall statement that this feature may malfunction, so it might not sense an obstruction.

“Nissan will start notifying owners of the problem starting on November 28, and dealerships will replace the faulty switches with new ones free of charge,” notes Left Lane News.

GM also announced that it’s recalling about 1,800 2012 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans for faulty airbags. The automaker says that the second stage of the dual-stage airbags may not deploy properly, increasing the risk of injury in a crash. Owners will start to be notified this month, and can have their vans fixed for free at GM dealerships.

Finally, Lotus is recalling a handful of its 2011 Elise luxury sports cars for problems with their exterior lights. According to Lotus, some of the wiring in the Elise’s lighting system doesn’t comply with federal standards, so there’s a possibility that the turn signals or warning flashers may not work properly. The automaker hasn’t said when it will begin contacting owners, but those affected by the problem can have their cars fixed for free at Lotus dealerships.
