Hi everyone,

I have a 2.8 crd manual nitro and it has developed a grinding noise at the rear end.
I thought it must be one of the wheel bearings going, but I took it into the shop, and they said it could be bearing, but could also be rear diff noise (which is obviously concering.)
The noise sounds almost like the wheel is rubbing on the wheel arch (which it isnt.) The sound is constant and increases and decreases in sound as I speed up and slow down.
I have checked the rear diff fluid just incase, and that was fine.
The sound doesn't change as I turn a corner which happened the last time I had a wheel bearing go in a previous vehicle.
I wonder if anyone might be able to shed some light on the problem at all before I take it into another shop for a second opinion.
Thanks in advance 😊
