Fiat Chrysler CEO Skips Frankfurt Show

Fiat Chrysler CEO Skips Frankfurt Show; UAW Deal May Be Near

Sep 14, 2015

Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne has canceled plans Tuesday to attend the Frankfurt International Motor Show in Germany, an indication that the company may be getting close to a contract agreement with the United Auto Workers union.

The company says Marchionne is staying in the U.S. to deal with business matters but gave no further details.

The union said Sunday that it had picked Fiat Chrysler as its target company in the contract talks. Deals with Fiat Chrysler, Ford and General Motors expire at midnight.

Fiat Chrysler — the smallest of the three companies — is now the focus of the bargaining. Its deal could set a general pattern for contracts at GM and Ford.

Mopar Showcases Modified Jeep® Vehicles

Mopar Showcases Modified Jeep® Vehicles at 2015 Frankfurt International Motor Show

Jeep Cherokee KrawLer is bulked up for the off-road with unique suspension, tires, skid plates and more
Mopar modifications to the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Sunriser include a 4-inch lift kit and half doors
Jeep Renegade Trailhawk features customizations including 17-inch rims, underbody skid plates and tow hooks

September 15, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. -

The Mopar brand revealed today at the 2015 Frankfurt International Motor Show (IAA) a trio of Jeep® branded show vehicles modified with a selection of parts and accessories. The Jeep Cherokee KrawLer, Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Sunriser and Jeep Renegade Trailhawk demonstrate how Mopar can help personalize the customer journey for owners around the globe.

Jeep Cherokee KrawLer
Based on the Trailhawk model, the Jeep Cherokee KrawLer was created to tackle the toughest driving conditions — as the name suggests by hinting at the vehicle’s “rock crawler” capabilities for navigating harsh off-road obstacles. The capital “K” and “L” in the name refer to the KL code that identifies the Cherokee nameplate.

The ride is raised for extreme off-road use with Mopar equipment including special suspension, BFGoodrich KM2 255/80/17 off-road tires, wider fenders, skid plates and rock rails. The Cherokee KrawLer sports a special, military-inspired matte-green body color accented with quartz grey interior and exterior details. The KrawLer is powered by a 3.2 V6 Pentastar 272 horsepower engine, automatic nine-speed transmission and “Jeep Active Drive Lock” four-wheel drive with low range and rear differential lock.

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Sunriser
The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Sunriser features exclusive matte orange paintwork (hence the name), in addition to a host of Mopar accessories such as bumpers with a double tow hook on the front, a 4-inch suspension lift kit and half doors. The Sunriser also showcases LED lights fitted between the A-pillar and windscreen to complete the look. LED technology is also implemented for the daytime running lights and rear light clusters. The interior is wrapped in black leather customized with matte fluorescent orange trim, matching the color of the body.

The vehicle includes an engine skid plate and beadlock wheels, which fix the tire bead to the rim to prevent unintended tire removal, especially when running with very low pressure and tackling tricky obstacles such as rocks, sand or mud. The Sunriser is powered by a 2.8 CRD engine combined with a five-speed automatic transmission.

Jeep Renegade Trailhawk
Rounding out the Mopar customized line-up at Frankfurt is a special “Moparized” version of the Jeep Renegade Trailhawk. This one-of-a-kind Trailhawk is equipped with 17-inch aluminium alloy rims, underbody skid plates, two rear tow hooks and exclusive black mirror caps that nicely contrast with the Anvil-colored livery and special side stickers.

Inside, the customization includes sporty pedals and Jeep design mats. All Mopar accessories are specifically designed to enhance the adventurous spirit of this version of the Renegade, which is most suited to off-roading.

Alfa Romeo Giulia QV

Alfa Romeo Giulia QV Laps the Nurburgring in 7:39

Alfa Romeo chose the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show to show off its new performance sedan and to reveal some new information on the car.

The Italian brand claims that the Giulia has lapped the legendary Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 39 seconds, the fastest time ever for a sedan and a full 14 seconds faster than its chief rival, the BMW M4. Power for the Italian sports car comes from a Ferrari-built turbocharged 2.9-liter six-cylinder engine that makes 510 hp.

In a straight line, the Giulia can jump to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds, while performance additions like a dual-clutch transmission and torque vectoring help the car rip through laps on the race track. Rear-wheel drive is standard on the car while all-wheel drive is available and it is unknown as to which setup was used to set the lap record. A curb weight of 3359 lbs and perfect 50/50 weight distribution also go a long way in helping the Giulia QV go fast.

Alfa also revealed pricing for the car in its home market of Italy, where it will cost 79,000 Euros to start. Add on carbon ceramic brakes and carbon fiber seats though and the price tage jumps to 95,000 Euros. European sales will begin at the end of 2016. U.S. availability is expected to begin in late 2017.
