When Uganda's celebrated singer Moses Ssali a.k.a Bebe cool said it was time Ugandans started living like Hollywood stars, many brushed it off as the usual star-speech fueled by rivalry in the music industry as to who buys the biggest car.
Recently, Stanbic Bank Limited organised a Housing and Auto show, at the Kampala City Council rugby grounds (KCC) (in the out skirts of the city ) where Spear Motors Limited unveiled a brand new and stylish Dodge Nitro 2008.
The Dodge Nitro, a compact SUV from the Chrysler division of Jeep Chrysler LLC was introduced into the Ugandan market in the last quarter of 2007. Spear Motors limited the authorized distributors of that car sold all the units they had imported .
"The Nitro also comes voice control system (VCS) for the manipulation of the radio controls, tyre pressure monitors and a fuel level monitor mechanism that lets the driver know how much fuel he has leftover and how much distance the driver can cover in kilometers on the same fuel" said Wavamuno.
It comes equiped with rear-wheel drive capabilities that at a buttons push switches into an all-wheel drive car .
With a 5 speed automatic transmission gear box, leather seats and interior, plus an American concept cars' aggressive design, and a dub of German technology that makes it one of hottest car on the market.
Also included in the car is an AM/FM stereo radio and 6 disc CD/MP3 play capabilitiesalong with nine speaker premium sound system with 368 watt power amplifier, rear park assist and remote keyless entry system among others.
For comfort and convenience, the car has leather-wrapped steering wheel w/radio controls, cruise control, 6-way power driver seat, heated power mirrors, automatic day/night rearview mirror, universal garage door opener, illuminated visor mirrors, sliding cargo tray, floormats.
For purposes of safety, the Nitro has dual front airbags, curtain side airbags, antilock 4-wheel brakes, antiskid system, tire-pressure indicator.
The Dodge Nitro is presently available at Spear Motors Uganda limited for a 10% down payment loan on that prize and a loan offer from Stanbic bank limited the car is ready to drive because all the relevant taxes are already paid for by the supplier.
The Nitro went into production in August 2006 and went on sale in September. The Nitro is also Dodge's first compact SUV car since the Raider.
