As with any new product there have been some problems, they have all but disappeared as production moves along. but if you are looking for problems going in you should look at something other than the Nitro so as not to disappoint yourself.

They all have the same electrical system. What are the real differences? Engine, transmission, and rear differential.

Both engines have been reported in very small numbers to have a whistle sound when accelerating. This problem is diagnosed and repaired. Both engines have been reported to feel as if they want to stall during low speed maneuvers. The 3.7L actually does stall on some of these occasions. The 3.7L has been known to stall, then restart while freeway driving. No known cause/remedy on either problem.

There are tranny issues on both vehicles. These occur in small numbers and do not nearly affect all vehicles. There is a known fix for the R/T tranny. The jury is still out on the SLT, but most say a good service center has fixed the problem.

The dash lights have been reported to flicker off and on on a few SLT models. This is usually associated with the occurance of an engine stall. Again, same electrical system on both vehicles.

Noisy rear differentials have been reported on a few R/T models. Some are being replaced and solving problem.

These are the main issues occuring with these vehicles. They do not appear to be anything that can not be overcome, however if you have any doubt, you should probably look elsewhere. Personally, I have had an R/T on order for over two months, and I am still looking forward to delivery. Ultimately, you make the decision and live with it, right or wrong. Good luck and have a safe and happy driving future!
